India Maintains STEADY Course Amid West Asia Tensions: PM Modi

Amid the ongoing war in West Asia, India has adopted a measured and calibrated response, balancing diplomacy with national interests.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, in the last three weeks since the West Asia conflict began, India has demonstrated strong coordination, clear decision-making, and effective crisis management. At a time when global alignments appear fragmented, India has sustained engagement across regions, from the Gulf to the Global West and the Global South, positioning itself as a reliable and trusted partner.

On strategic alignment, the approach remains firm. India continues to prioritise its own interests while advocating dialogue and de-escalation. Even distant conflicts carry economic and security implications, making restraint and domestic stability critical.

There are also early signs of easing pressure on the energy front. LPG supplies are stabilising, with shipments moving through key routes. Two Indian-flagged carriers, Jag Vasant and Pine Gas, are currently transiting the Strait of Hormuz along routes close to Iran’s coastline, following earlier successful passages.

India’s diplomacy has operated quietly but effectively. Continuous engagement has ensured the safe movement of Indian vessels through a sensitive corridor, reflecting careful negotiation and steady coordination during a volatile period.
