After having our fill of Christmas classics and festive films, many have been turning to Netflix in recent days when looking for something a little different to kill a few hours.
While plenty have enjoyed Jimmy Carr's latest stand up special, or the star-studded disaster comedy Don't Look Up, some have decided to dabble in the horror genre - giving Mar Targarona's Dos (Two) a go on the streaming platform.
Thanks to it's twisted storyline, dramatic ending and an exceptionally disturbing sex scene, the Spanish horror-thriller has left many viewers lost for word's after watching the psychological drama.
After playing at film festivals since the summer, Dos (Two) is now available to a global audience - many split on what they think after watching the erotic thriller.
Dos (Two) kicks by showing two strangers waking up naked in bed together, coming to the horrific realisation that they have been sewn together at the abdomen.
Already, viewers may some comparisons to the infamous Human Centipede franchise, but the Spanish thriller has actually been likened to another torture porn flick - Saw.
Many have compared the set-up of the new Netflix movie to sadistic villain Jigsaw and his imagined version of his cruel games with a pornographic element.
In Dos (Two) two strangers — Sara (Marina Gatell) and David (Pablo Derqui) — wake up naked and stitched together where even the tiniest bit of movement causes incredible pain for the pair.
While sex may be the last thing on many people's minds placed in this situation, the entwined two do end up going on to produce one of the wildest and most disturbing sex scenes of 2021.
Not only that, plenty of icky and gruesome twists ensure the plot is equally disturbing.
If you can't stomach watching the thriller for yourself, we've summed up the plotline for you below - stop reading now if you're planning to brave watch Dos (Two) one day.
After waking up entwined together, Sara and David try to figure out just who is behind this incredibly weird and intense act, with the pair suspecting Sara's controlling husband, Mario.
David has been working as a male escort and remembers being hired by another man to sleep with his wife - something Sara can picture happening.
After they end up kissing for a second time, their unknown captor shuts off the lights - to avoid seeing the act of intimacy - which reinforces their belief it's Sara's husband behind the set-up.
Somehow, the pair end up going on to have sex in the dark before their sadistic tormentor gives in and offers them a way out of the room.
At this point, things get weird and a plot twist reveals that David and Sara are actually long-lost conjoined twins after being placed in the foster care system after they were born.
Their mother died during their birth it seems and their father was a diagnosed schizophrenic which saw them left to being cared for by the state.
But the pair later discover it was their father behind their present day situation - hence why he kept turning off the lights when they made love.
The long-lost siblings realise their estranged father has murdered Sara's husband and plan to kill their twisted father.
After a scuffle between their father and a gun leaves David wounded, he insists Sara cuts herself free so she can go look for help.
Despite managing to tear herself apart from her brother, it seems there is no happy ending for the pair - as Sara dies in the snow totally naked when attempting to travel to safety.

Adar giggles throughout the movie — but her hollow laugher is more like a silent scream, signaling that this is not funny at all. Her mother and the boyfriend become abusive to Adar, and she wanders the streets looking for someone to save her. She meets a boy named Alan who could pass for her doppelganger. They connect almost wordlessly, then buy matching outfits at a clothing store before Adar brings him home.

“Our imaginations can sometimes change our reality,” writes Israeli writer/director Tali Shalom Ezer about her award-winning film Princess . But only sometimes.
Ezer’s main character, 12-year-old Adar (played hauntingly by Shira Haas ) is surrounded by dangerous adults. In the opening moments of the film, Adar is in bed with her mother and her mother’s boyfriend, their limbs intertwined. Adar’s mother gets dressed in a slinky outfit and then asks how she looks.
“Sexy,” Adar answers, then giggles softly.
“He’ll sleep with me, in my room, it won’t disturb you,” Adar tells her mom with an eerie grin.
This is a beautiful yet profoundly disturbing movie. The cast is extremely talented as they delve into sexual abuse, incest, and the fallout in a young girl’s mind. Ultimately, whether or not her imagination can change her reality is a lingering question for the viewer to answer.
Princess opens on Friday, May 27 in NYC and LA, and is newly released on VOD/DVD .

The love scene has been a part of cinema right from the beginning. One of the first movies ever screened was simply called The Kiss (1896), a 47-second smooch – newspaper editorial writers were scandalised. By 1910, film storytelling had developed enough that a love scene could serve as a crucial part of a narrative. Actress Asta Nielsen’s stunning seduction of a circus performer in the Danish film The Abyss, in which she grinds her hips against him while taking part in a gaucho dance, radiates sexual heat. It’s a sex scene with clothes on, the moment Nielsen’s character metaphorically consummates the relationship. She was the sexual aggressor – and audiences in Europe and America were shocked. With the establishment of the Hollywood Production Code in the early 1930s, directors were limited in how much sexual behaviour they could depict on screen. There wouldn’t be a Hollywood movie like Ecstasy, the 1933 Czechoslovakian film [that showed Hedy Lamarr nude and having an orgasm]( http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20140527-how-10-movie-taboos-were-broken), for decades. But clever filmmakers like Alfred Hitchcock found ways of subverting the Code. He decided to include “the longest kiss in movie history” in his film Notorious, despite the Code’s decree that Hollywood kisses must be limited to three seconds or less. So rather than just one long kiss, Hitchcock had Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman pucker up intermittently while locked in an embrace for two and a half minutes – during which time they also move around an apartment arm in arm, talk on the phone and discuss a chicken dinner, with the kissing serving as punctuation for their dialogue. Depictions of sex in American cinema loosened up considerably during the 1960s after studios stopped enforcing the Production Code. But an independently produced film that helped kick off the Blaxploitation craze, Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss song, went further than any American film to that point. It featured unsimulated sex, as Melvin Van Peebles, also the director of the film, makes love to several women while his character is on the run from law. Most controversial of all, he placed his naked 13-year-old son Mario Van Peebles in one scene to depict his character as a youth at the moment when he lost his virginity to a prostitute. Britain didn’t lag behind the American underground cinema in opening up new sexual frontiers. Ken Russell had already courted scandal with the [nude male wrestling match he staged in Women in Love](http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20140527-how-10-movie-taboos-were-broken), but The Devils took it a step further. A tale of religious hysteria and sexual panic in 1600s France about a town the Church believes is infested with demons and witchcraft, the movie shows nuns engaged in an orgy, while surrounded by Christian iconography. In one scene Oliver Reed portrays Jesus as he’s taken down from the cross only to be ravished by a lusty Vanessa Redgrave – this two years before The Exorcist and 16 years before The Last Temptation of Christ provoked outrage for mixing sexuality with the sacred. The Japanese film from master provocateur Nagisa Oshima paved the way for Lars von Trier’s Antichrist in its depiction of sexual violence. It shows the evolution of a torrid affair, through unsimulated sex, between a damaged man and woman in 1930s Japan, whose sexual lives build toward greater and greater extremes including erotic asphyxiation. Like the notorious real-life incident from 1930s Japan on which it’s based, the movie’s final love scene culminates in castration and murder. (Surrogate)
David Lynch’s film is full of disturbing moments – including an agonising sequence in which Dennis Hopper’s nitrous-oxide huffing maniac rapes Isabella Rossellini. But its ‘love scene”’ in which Rossellini demands the film’s hero Kyle MacLachlan beat her, is nearly as disquieting. Few films before Blue Velvet had examined the power dynamics of sexuality to such visceral effect, and a number of film critics, including Roger Ebert, couldn’t accept that. Ebert famously wrote, "[Rossellini is] degraded, slapped around, humiliated and undressed in front of the camera. And when you ask an actress to endure those experiences, you should keep your side of the bargain by putting her in an important film." (DEG)
Marvel Comics’ irreverent fowl got the big screen treatment in a film produced by George Lucas, but this was not exactly child-friendly entertainment in the manner of Star Wars. It flirted with unsettling ideas about inter-species romance, or outright bestiality – something rarely ever depicted on film. Howard is shown to be quite a libidinous duck who reads a magazine called Playduck and attempts and nearly succeeds in seducing human Lea Thompson. In one almost-steamy scene he gets her into bed and, after she says “I can’t find the right man,” utters the immortal line “Maybe it’s not a man you should be looking for”. Though they are affectionate with each other, thankfully no actual feathers fly. (Universal Pictures)
Director Larry Clark and screenwriter Harmony Korine wanted to make a film that showed teenage promiscuity in American urban life. The result was unflinchingly raw – and extremely controversial as it featured actual teenage actors playing teenage roles, while the tradition has often been for older actors to play such parts. The opening moments alone comprise an extended love scene between a 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Clark said that he hoped to make a movie that would be the cinematic equivalent of The Great American Novel. The Washington Post, however, called it “virtually child pornography”. Vincent Gallo’s reverie on grief, about a man examining the various stages of a relationship that’s caused him regret, may be the ultimate cinematic lightning rod. It not only drew boos at Cannes, Roger Ebert declared it to be the worst film in the history of the festival. One scene in particular left the audience stunned: an extended sequence in which Chloe Sevigny performs oral sex on Gallo. One can argue that it reveals the codependent nature of their relationship and is essential to the story – but the close-up framing and extended duration of the scene made some think that art had become pornography. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone created a blistering satire of US foreign policy – along with Hollywood celebrity culture and filmmaking clichés – in Team America: World Police, staged entirely with marionettes. One moment particularly stood out and caused the film nearly to be slapped with an ‘adults only’ rating in the US: a love scene between two of the puppets. Using the aesthetic of a children’s film in an aggressively sexual way drew controversy, though the directors defended it by saying that simulating a hook-up between the puppets reflects the joking way kids actually play with their toys. Particularly acrobatic, the scene’s duration was one and a half minutes at first but Parker and Stone had to cut it down to 50 seconds until the US ratings board would give it a less restrictive classification. Nothing could be worse than having to feel the pain of forbidden love. Love is boundless, and it is only human to feel emotions. Most people dismiss ‘ The Reader ‘ as a mediocre, Oscar-bait drama that’s nothing more than a skin show. But I, for one, love the film. It’s deeply flawed and may come off as a bit of a drag at times but just too beautiful and humane to dismiss. The film depicts the complex sexual relationship between a teenage kid and a woman in her mid-30s. Kate Winslet is stunning in her role as a woman struggling to deal with her inner demons and deeply torn by her shameful past. Watch it for its delicate rendering of humanity.
Bernardo Bertolucci’s controversial drama explores the disturbing relationship between a mother and her son. Joe, a teenager, has a troubled relationship with his parents, and after his mother’s husband commits suicide, he moves along with her to Rome. However, the boy’s emotional troubles begin to take a toll on him, and he begins to use drugs. In order to free him from the web of addiction, his mother grows increasingly closer to him, which develops into a sexual relationship. The film as a whole doesn’t hold up well, but the incestuous part is done in a very effective manner.
How, in our world, could the love story of a 20-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman be not a case of forbidden love? Hal Ashby’s black comedy romantic drama centers around a young man obsessed with death who frequently attends funerals, stages fake suicides, and grows increasingly detached from his mother. While romance might not seem to be the film’s thematic focus, the complex relationship between Harold and Maude is essential to understanding the sheer profoundness of the themes it deals with. They are two different worlds whose starkly contrasting perspectives on life form the core of the film. It might seem a bit bizarre and twisted for a certain audience, but it has aged incredibly well and feels thoroughly refreshing and original.
I haven’t been the biggest fan of ‘The Graduate’ except for its ending which, in my opinion, is one of the finest ever in cinema. It’s quite difficult to relate to a coming-of-drama that’s more than 50 years old. But there are some amazing moments in the film that still hold up well and manage to move me tremendously. ‘The Graduate’ was a trendsetting phenomenon that changed the way coming-of-dramas were made. The feeling of angst and sexual tension felt by Benjamin is palpable. He is seduced by the wife of his father’s business partner but ends up falling in love with her daughter. As I said, it might not hold up well for modern audiences, but it’s still an incredible experience and an absolute fun ride.
Arguably one of Stanley Kubrick ‘s more underrated works, ‘Lolita’ tells the story of a middle-aged man deeply infatuated with a gorgeous teenage girl. Adapted from Vladimir Nokobov’s novel of the same title, ‘Lolita’ generated controversy due to its bold subject and was panned by critics. Kubrick infuses a dark, perverse sense of humor that works brilliantly with its chaotic, often flippant narrative.
