A pedophile faces 775 years in jail after he and his former girlfriend filmed themselves sexually abusing her baby granddaughter.
Richard Smith was convicted of multiple counts of sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual abuse by a parent or guardian Wednesday.
Smith, of Kanawha County, West Virginia, will be jailed for between 205 and 775 years when he is sentenced on March 4, abc15 reported.
The pervert’s ex-girlfriend and alleged accomplice Roseanna Thompson, 46, will stand trial on the same charges as well as an additional count of incest in March.
Thompson, of Charleston, had custody of the little girl at the time of the alleged abuse.
The abuse was uncovered by Smith’s ex-wife Morgan Smith after she left him in May 2018 over the discovery of child sex abuse images on his computer.
While clearing out their home, Morgan discovered a collection of video tapes said to show her ex-husband and Thompson repeatedly molesting the baby girl in 2015.
Morgan Smith was so traumatized by their contents she now refuses to step inside her old home where she found the collection.
Recalling her reaction to the abuse material, Morgan told WCHS: ‘(It) just completely blew me away, turned my entire world upside down.
‘It baffles me because I think kids are to be protected and cherished at all costs, so to know that somebody that I loved could do this.’
Morgan told of how her husband had ‘a lot of perverted fantasies,’ but that she had dismissed them as little more than his twisted imagination, until she discovered the tapes.
She added: ‘I hope there’s no other kids that they touched.
‘Having been molested when I was a kid myself, I know that damage that it can do.’
