In this modern era of digital technology, people rely on digital devices to complete their work more efficiently. Video editing is not an easy job. It requires skill, time, and a good video editing software. Among the many software available, Cyberlink PowerDirector is one of the most popular software in the market. I am a video editor who has been using PowerDirector for years. I purchased the software by paying a considerable amount of money, but things changed when the company decided to make me rent something I owned.

I was content with PowerDirector when suddenly, the company decided to introduce a subscription-based payment model. Initially, I was hesitant to purchase the subscription, as I had already paid for the licensing of the software. However, I did not want to be left behind in the updates and improvements PowerDirector had to offer, so I decided to purchase the subscription.

To my dismay, I soon realized that the new subscription-based payment model was not as beneficial as I thought it would be. Firstly, the subscription fee was relatively high for my budget. Secondly, the company had removed some essential features that were once offered to all users. As a loyal customer, I expected some degree of appreciation for my investment in the software, but instead, I was paying more for fewer features.

In addition, I discovered that PowerDirector now had a watermark on exported videos, something that was not present before the subscription-based model was introduced. This was unacceptable to me and my clients, who were now receiving videos with a visible watermark, which significantly impacted the quality of work I could offer.

As a result of this experience, I no longer use PowerDirector. I realized that the company did not value my investment in the software and that they had reneged on their promise to provide me with a quality editing experience. Now, I use other software that offers me better quality at an affordable price.

In conclusion, as a video editor, I have come to realize that technology companies are solely driven by financial gains. Companies like Cyberlink PowerDirector forget their loyal customers in the quest for profits. I do not believe it is fair for a company to change their pricing policy to the disadvantage of their customers. Consequently, there is a need for a relationship built on trust and loyalty between companies and their customers.
