In order to gradually introduce the Green Energy certificate system, the first generating facilities were registered


In order to gradually introduce the Green Energy certificate system, confirming that electricity is produced using renewable sources, the first generating facilities were registered in the system.

For reference: In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No PP-156 dated 12 May 2023, measures have been taken to establish cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan (authorised body) and the the International REC Standard Foundation.

On 8 June 2023, the Ministry of Economy and Finance was approved by the International REC Standard Foundation (I-REC Standard) as a national issuer in the I-REC system.

For practical implementation and introduction of the system of "Green Energy" certificates for electricity generated at hydropower plants of JSC "Uzbekhydroenergo" (as registrant), an agreement between the National Issuer and JSC "Uzbekhydroenergo" on standard conditions of certificate issue was concluded on 27 June 2023.

In particular, 4 generating facilities with a total capacity of 962.4 MW (Charvak HPP - 666 MW, Khojakent HPP – 165 MW, Gazalkent HPP -120 MW, Tuyabogiz HPP–126 MW - 11.4 MW) are registered in the unified electronic certificate platform “Green Energy” (I–REC).
