In Super Meat Boy, Steve?

Prepare for an adventure of limitless possibilities as you build, mine, battle mobs, and explore the ever-changing Minecraft landscape.

Minecraft is a 3D game of sandbox that Markus "Notch" Persson created. It is maintained and updated by Mojang Studios, which is part Xbox Game Studios, which is in turn part of Microsoft.

From its creation, Minecraft was developed almost exclusively by Notch until Jens "Jeb" Bergensten started working with him and has since become head of its development. It features music by Daniel Rosenfeld, Kumi Taka, and Lena Raine as well as paintings by Kristoffer Zietterstrand. The game was initially released under the name Minecraft Classic on May 17, 2009. It was finally released fully on November 18, 2011. Minecraft has been available on mobile devices and consoles since its original release. Microsoft acquired Minecraft and all Mojang Studios' assets on November 6, 2014 for US$2.5 Billion. [6][7] Notch left Mojang and no longer works on Minecraft.

Minecraft focuses on allowing the player to explore, interact with and modify a dynamically-generated map made of one-cubic-meter-sized blocks. The environment also features items, mobs, plants and other creatures. Some activities in the game include building, mining for ore, fighting hostile mobs and crafting new blocks and tools by gathering various resources found in the game. The game's open-ended design allows players create structures, creations, artwork and collaborate on multiplayer servers. Other features include redstone circuits for logic computations and remote actions, minecarts and tracks, and a mysterious underworld called the Nether. A designated but completely optional goal of the game is to travel to a dimension called the End and defeat the Ender dragon.

A Minecraft world that has been completely redesigned.

One of the two default player characters, called Steve.

The player is the person that the user controls in the world. When the user starts a game, the player is put in a world, generated by a random or specified seed, with an empty inventory. A chest containing basic items will be generated near the player if the bonus chest option has been enabled. The player has a 10 heart health bar and can be hurt by falling, suffocation. drowning. Fire, lava. lightning. Sweet berry bushes. Magma blocks. Falling into the Void. Being hit by mobs or other players. You can reduce damage to your health by using armor or resistance potion. Food and specific potions can also be used to restore your health. Health will regenerate itself if the difficulty is set at Peaceful. Hunger is also a factor when the difficulty is not set at Peaceful. This means that your health will diminish over time and you will be able to sprint, jump, or swim faster. Food replenishes the hunger level; however, eating rotten flesh and raw chicken has a chance of giving the player a hunger effect. Depending upon the difficulty level, starvation may cause a player to lose his health and even cause death.

A player can change their skin in Minecraft.net's profile page or in the Minecraft Launcher Java Edition.

A building that was inspired from a Greek acropolis.

Minecraft's world is made up of a three-dimensional grid of cubes. Each cube is occupied with a specific type of block. There are several types of blocks: natural blocks like stone, grass, and ores that can randomly generate in the world. There are also blocks that players can craft, such as a crafting table and a furnace. Blocks can be used to create resources by hand or using tools. Some resources can be used to create tools or blocks, while others can be placed in the player's inventory. Some are not practical. Some blocks cannot be broken through normal survival means, e.g. Bedrock, end portal frames and command blocks, nether portals and barriers, air, and barriers are some of the things that cannot be broken.

Mining

You can mine various ores in close proximity to lava using a pickaxe.

Mining is one aspect of Minecraft. It's used to extract ore from the ground. These ores include copper, iron and redstone as well as coal, iron. Mining can be done either from the surface, or down through a mine shaft. Because of their rich ores, mineshafts are also called ravines.

Crafting and melting

A crafting table is used for most of the Minecraft items and blocks.

Crafting allows players to create tools and blocks from items in their inventory. Subsequent versions often contain crafting recipes for new blocks and items. To craft, a player can either use the 2x2 grid found in their inventory or the 3x3 grid provided to them by a crafting table. A furnace is necessary to melt iron.

Brewing and enchanting

An Enchantment Table containing glyphs that can be absorbed into it.

Brewing creates potions out of various ingredients and water by using a brewing station. These potions are kept in a glass bottle and can be consumed by players or thrown at mobs to create a certain effect. This effect is determined by the magic ingredients used to make the potion. You can also use enchanting to upgrade armor, weapons, and tools with an enchanting or anvil. By gaining experience, you can access more powerful enchantments and placing bookshelves around enchanting tables.

A creeper in the forest. Creepers stalk the player, then explode when they get too close.

Mobs (shorthand for "mobiles") refer to the animals and other creatures that live on the map. Passive mobs are more aggressive than hostile mobs and attack the player when provoked. However, neutral mobs attack players when provoked (not every neutral mob is provoked in the same manner).

The Overworld is home to many passive mobs, which can be killed for food or bred together.

Pigs: After death, they will drop raw porkchops. They can be ridden on a saddle with a carrot and held onto a stick. Cows: You can milk your cows with a bucket if you have to give up raw beef. Sheep: Drop raw mutton upon death and 1 wool. Sheep can then be sheared to create 1-3 wools. Chickens: After death, drop the raw chicken and feathers and lay eggs. Horses can ride a saddle or drop leather after death. They travel faster than the pigs and can also be used to ride a saddle. Rabbits can be dropped with rabbit meat, hide, and its foot. This is a brewing item. Bats: ambient mobs that fly around caves. Fish: Passive ambient mobs drop a variety of items, including food and bones. Mobs that drop food usually drop the raw version unless they are killed by fire.

Common hostile mobs found throughout the Overworld include:

Zombies can be attacked by melee damage. Skeletons: have a bow and infinitely many arrows. Spiders can leap great distances and climb walls. Witches: use potions. Creepers will explode if they are within a few feet of the player. Endermen: are tall and black creatures with purple eyes which turn aggressive when the player looks at them.

The Overworld also contains some rarer mobs that spawn only on occasion or in specific biomes, places or times:

Spider jockeys - A skeleton riding on a spider.

Chicken jockeys: A baby zombie riding a chicken. Slimes: These creatures spawn deep within a map or in swamplands. Villagers: Can trade with the player and can live in villages. Cats can be tamed, and they can live in villages and swamp huts. Parrots can mimic the sounds of nearby mobs. Gaming Wolves are able to be controlled by the players and attack enemy mobs, if the player engages in an attack by them. Llamas can store items and create caravans. Mooshrooms - mushroom-covered cows spawn in mushroom fields biomes. Vindicators spawn in wooded mansions. Pillagers spawn in pillager-outposts. Evokers: spawn within Woodland Mansions. Phantoms: spawn if the player hasn’t slept for three days in-game. Pandas: spawn in jungles but are more common in bamboo jungles.

Some are found only in the Nether.

Ghasts: Flying ghosts that shoot fireballs at the player. Zombified porcins: They can wield a golden sword and attack in hordes, if provoked. Piglins: can barter to provide ingredients or blocks. Wither skeletons, tall skeletons with stone swords and dropping coal. Sometimes wither skeleton skulls can also be used to summon an additional boss, the wither. Blazes: shoot fireballs at players and hover above the ground. Magma cubes can do more damage than Overworld slimes and are similar to them. Striders: are the only passive mobs naturally spawning in the Nether, which can walk on lava and be ridden with a warped fungus on a stick.

The End contains the Ender Dragon, which is the main boss mob in Minecraft and allows the player to exit back to the Overworld when it dies.

Withers are the second boss mob in Minecraft and are created by the player by placing wither skeleton skulls on top of soul sand or soul soil in a specific pattern. When they are spawned, they shoot wither heads at nearby undead mobs and cause the Wither Effect to be activated for any mobs that are hit by the skulls.

The Nether

The Nether.

The Nether is a dimension in Minecraft accessible from the Overworld by a nether portal. It includes five distinct biomes, including the nether trashes, basalt deltas and the crimson-warped forests, as well as the soul sand Valleys and the basalt Deltas. Each biome has unique generation and terrain. It is home to zombified hoglins and blazes. The nether contains nether quartz (nether gold), ancient debris, and other ore. The Nether also has large oceans of lava that have striders walking on them.

The End

The End.

The End is where the player fights the ender Dragon. The End can be accessed by entering an End portal located in a stronghold. The End is composed of end stone and is inhabited by endermen. It also contains tall obsidian pillars on top of which are end crystals that heal the ender dragon. Once the ender dragon is slain, the exit portal is created in the center of the map and an end gateway portal is created near an edge of the map, which transports the player to the expansive outer end islands which are full of chorus fruit forests and end cities filled of chest loot and shulkers. The end portal can only be accessed if you throw an Ender Pearl. There are no ores at the end.

Multiplayer (Java).

PvP (player against player) on a multiplayer server.

Minecraft multiplayer servers have developed to include their own rules and customs, guided by their administrators and moderators. The term griefer, meaning a player who causes grief, is a typical term on the internet but has taken up its definition on Minecraft servers: a person who destroys or defiles other users' creations on servers.

Griefers are the reason many server administrators make rules, but this has been taken a step further with modifications to the Minecraft server and even plugin-based replacement servers such as Bukkit. Because of these plugin-based servers, new user-created features have shown up in Minecraft. This includes features like money, vehicles, protection, RPG elements and more. These features do not normally require modification to the client of the user and can be accessed using chat commands. The default controls allow you to bring up the chat screen by pressing T.

Spleef is a multiplayer game that's very popular on multiplayer servers. This game, which is a play on the word "grief", sees the player trying to make another player fall through the ground by destroying blocks underneath their opponent's feet. This is typically played in a designated area and is usually run automatically using server plugins.

Many popular multiplayer servers exist that may contain, PvP arenas, custom minigames or large Survival or Creative worlds.

Multiplayer (Bedrock).

Multiplayer in Bedrock Edition differs from multiplayer on the Java edition in that it is centered around a friend system. A player can add friends through the Friends tab in the menu or in the pause screen of a world. Instead of paying for a realm or server, a player may invite their friends to join a world. Minecraft has featured servers on Bedrock, which means that they are available when opening the game. There are seven featured servers available: The Hive (CubeCraft), Mineplex, Mineplex Lifeboat, Mineville Galaxite and Pixel Paradise.

Minecraft Realms

Minecraft Realms is an official subscription-based server hosting service that allows players to create and manage their own private Minecraft multiplayer worlds. Realms, hosted by Mojang Studios allows for a fast and easy way to create servers. The owner can also manage them from within Minecraft without needing to be familiar with the concepts of hosting on the Internet. Realms cannot be used to host large servers. Instead, they can be used by friends or family as a server. [8] Private Realms servers are easy to set up and available 24/7 as long as the owner pays for it.

Notch with Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

The Bedrock Edition (also known as the Bedrock Platform, Bedrock Codebase or Bedrock Engine) refers to the multi-platform family of editions of Minecraft developed by Mojang Studios and Xbox Game Studios. Prior to this term, as the engine originated with Minecraft: Pocket Edition, this entire product family has been referred to using as "Pocket Edition", "MCPE" or "Pocket/Windows 10 Edition".

Minecraft, with no subtitle, is the title of all Bedrock editions of Minecraft. Before the Better Together Update it had different subtitles for different platforms, including Pocket Edition (for all platforms), Console Edition and Windows 10 Edition, Gear VR Edition and Fire TV Edition.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition was initially launched exclusively for the Xperia PLAY on Google Play[9] for US$6.99 on August 16, 2011. There are a number of other versions of Minecraft.

Minecraft 4k is a simple version of Minecraft in the style of other "4k" Java games (everything is packaged in 4 kibibytes) that Notch has entered in contests. Minecraft: Pi Edition was a free ported version of the 0.5.0 version of Pocket Edition for the Raspberry Pi,[17] which was intended as an educational tool for novice programmers. It allowed users access to the game code and supported multiple languages. However, it was withdrawn in January 2016. Minecraft: China Edition is a China edition of Minecraft.

Comparison of editions

Game customization

Add-ons

Add-ons[Bedrock Edition only] are the first step toward bringing customization to all editions of Minecraft and are officially supported by Mojang Studios/Minecraft. They allow players to change the appearance of their worlds, modify the behavior of mobs and add entities, blocks, structures, functions, and biomes.

Behavior packs

Behavior packs [Bedrock Edition only] alter the behavior of vanilla fogs and mobs. They are still in development and will soon be capable of changing how blocks and items function[citation needed].

Officially, the game supports changing many of its textures, sounds, or texts via resource packs. Resource packs must contain a certain structure of files and folders placed in the .minecraft/resourcepacks folder. You can access the options menu to view the installed resource packs and the folder in which they are stored. The number of files in the resource pack will determine how much the resources are modified.

Data packs

Data packs[Java Edition only] provide a way for players to further customize vanilla worlds in a similar way to resource packs. Data packs are not like resource packs which modify the game's resources. Instead, they can be used to override existing features, functions, structures, recipes, and tags without code modification.

Skins

Skin is the texture that's applied to a player-model or mob. The skin is divided into areas which represent the character's surface (e.g. the left leg area, the front head, and the left foot). A skin allows only solid color; transparency is not allowed on the skin file except on the second layer, which is transparent by default; playing offline, pixels can be left free resulting in "holes" in the skin. The second layer can be used to give the character glasses, hats, or other accessories. Players can also change the arm size to be slim or normal. The slim variant measures only 3 pixels wide and the normal variant 4 pixels.

Java Edition

Java Edition has no special features. This version only has the features described in the first section.

Bedrock Edition

in Bedrock Edition, there are many more types of skin customization. You can add 3D custom hair, eyes and mouths to your character. Players can also change the size of a character. Players can also choose from many accessories to enhance their skin. This can only be done with an in-game skin. Accessories and skins can be purchased by players. A skin that is smaller than usual or larger will not affect the hitbox size. However it can still be an advantage in multiplayer servers, as it may be harder to see. Some skins don't show armor or other hand-held items.

Capes

Capes are an uncommon vanity item that players can wear on their backs. in Bedrock Edition, players start with a cape that is not equipped by default and some skins come with capes.

Capes also flail around when the player runs. The texture of the capes changes when the player equips them with elytra.

Unofficial mods

Modifying Minecraft can be done by adding Java class file to minecraft.jar Java Edition. This method of making custom modifications is not supported by Mojang as it can break the game if the mod is outdated, defective, or in conflict with another mod. Some of these modifications impressed Notch enough to add them to the game. Some examples of mods being implemented into the main game include Hippoplatimus' Piston Mod and horses from Dr. Zhark's Mo' Creatures mod were added in Beta 1.7 and 1.6.1 respectively.

Third-party programs

There are many programs for Minecraft. These include 3D map viewers and editors, game mods, and various informational programs (such crafting recipes and server wrappers). These are also not supported by Mojang, as with mods.

Reception

Metacritic ranked Minecraft among the top video games of 2010.[18] Video Game Canon ranked Minecraft as one the greatest games of all time. [19]

Awards

Mojang Studios' trophies.

Since release Minecraft has won numerous awards including:

PC Gamer's Game of the Year[20] – Independent Games Festival’s Grand Prize and “Audience Award”[21] Good Game’s Game of the Year [22] Rock Paper Shotgun’s Game of the Year[23] Indie DB's Indie of the Year, "Most Innovative and Best Singleplayer Indie"[24] – Game Developers Choice Awards’s "Best Debut Game", and "Best Downloadable Game”[25] Popular Culture References

Many references to Minecraft have been made in culture as a result of its popularity. These include memes and references in TV shows and movies.

- In Super Meat Boy, Steve? [26] is an unlockable figure. He is also known as Mr. Minecraft. From the 29th to 31st July 2011, Battlefield Heroes players could choose between a Royal Minecraft T-Shirt and a National Minecraft T-Shirt. [27] - In Team Fortress 2, there is a hat called Top Notch that resembles Notch's avatar in a cubic form. This hat is unique to Notch. - The Elder Scrolls V and The Binding of Isaac have an item called "Notched Pickaxe". This is a reference to Notch, the game's creator, and the pickaxes that feature prominently on Minecraft. [29][30] The Binding of Isaac afterbirth contains another item called the "Mine Crafter", which uses TNT.

- In the prologue, Breaking the Bank, if the player chooses the "shovel" option, Henry tries to get inside the bank by digging under the walls, but hits and ignites a gas main; the failure message is "Never dig straight down. This is a well-known tip for Minecraft. Chapter 2: Stealing the Diamond. If the player selects the option to "sneak in" and then the "pickaxe", Henry starts to mine the museum the diamond is located. However, a creeper comes up behind him and explodes. Henry survives, however, and the explosion gave the entrance that Henry needed. Chapter 5, Completing the Mission has multiple references that refer to Minecraft. - The player can choose to launch with the "Government supported private investigator" or "Convict Allies", and then select the "jetpack". Henry will build a bridge from dirt blocks he has taken from the Toppat rocket. Henry, however, runs out of dirt blocks, falls off the edge and drops a stick, steak, and leather boots. The fail message says "You died!" Similar to the Minecraft death screen, "" is displayed. - If the player launches using the "Pure Blooded Thief” and "Presumed Dead", then selects a "Stop" option. After doing nothing, Henry attempts to "mine glass" in a similar way to Minecraft but is shot down. Henry's rocket is unable to carry enough fuel and will crash to the ground. This could be related to the Minecraft achievement. - If the player launches with "Government Supported Private Inspector" and "Ghost Inmate", then the "Magic Hat", and "Free Transform", options, the player may choose "Leafmode". A diamond block can also be seen near the painting. Also, a diamond helmet can sometimes be found.

Movies and TV shows

The 2nd episode of South Park's season 17 featured a kid teaching Minecraft to an adult audience. [43] The Minecraft-zombie sound can be heard at the beginning of the trailer for The Walking Deceased. [44] The 17th episode of season 25 of The Simpsons featured a couch gag known simply as SimCraft. Bartender Moe was a creeper that blows up the house. [45]- The title characters of Rick and Morty mention or are seen playing Minecraft in Season 3 Episode 10. [46] – Season 4 Episode 3 - Rick opens a laptop and says "Ok, now I'm going more Minecraft".
