Rapper Iggy Azalea shut down her Instagram and Twitter accounts on Monday, May 27 after nude photos of her leaked all over the internet — which left her feeling extremely violated.
The singer claimed in a now-deleted statement that the topless pictures that surfaced online over the weekend were from a 2016 GQ magazine photo shoot.
“There was no reason for anyone to have kept the outtakes from the shoot,” she wrote. “I’m surprised and angry that they were not immediately deleted after the final images were selected.”
The photos that were published on GQ Australia’s site were more covered up, so Iggy said that she felt comfortable posing topless — not thinking that the private pictures would eventually be leaked.
“A lot of high profile women have shot covers for GQ with a strategically placed hand, etc, covering their breasts,” she explained. “I always felt they were very beautiful covers, so I jumped at the opportunity. I hadn’t seen other women’s covers leak so I felt comfortable (on a closed set) to model for such a reputable magazine knowing only the images with my hands covering [my breasts] would be considered for print.”
The star went on to explain how upset she is that someone released these pictures without her consent.
“I feel blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry, sad and a million other things,” the 28-year old wrote. “Not solely because I did not consent to this — but also because of the vile way people have reacted.”
After seeing many negative comments, the “Fancy” singer deactivated her social media accounts for the time being.
“It is too much negativity for me to handle. For now it’s best to keep my accounts deactivated. Please be kinder to one another,” she concluded in her social media statement.
Not only did Iggy say in her statement that she intends on “pressing criminal charges in regards to this,” but the photographer who handled the GQ photo shoot, Nino Munoz, took to Instagram on Monday to address the scandal as well.

We’re glad Iggy is taking a break from all the negatively online during this time.

UPDATE: Hours after the surfacing of nude photos she'd taken for a 2016 GQ Australia photoshoot on Monday (May 27), Iggy Azalea re-activated her Twitter account and released a statement on the matter.
In the statement, which was written on what appear to be virtual iPhone Notes sheets, Iggy expresses her disappointment and frustration with both the leak of the photos and the reactions to the images. She plans to take the issue to court.
"I fully intend on finding out where the leak originated from and pressing criminal charges."
You can read everything Iggy has to say about the matter for yourself in the screenshots below:
Iggy Azalea has deactivated her Twitter and Instagram accounts after nude photos of her leaked onto the internet on Monday (May 27).
News of the leak began to permeate the internet earlier today. The pics reportedly come from a photo shoot that allegedly took place years ago, and the session was shot by photographer Nino Muñoz for GQ Australia . However, afterward Iggy apparently opposed their release and they were not to be put out. Somehow, they made their way to the internet. After having an abundance of inappropriate comments flood her social media accounts, Iggy decided to leave social media for the time being.
This isn't the first time Iggy has deactivated her social media accounts. In 2015, the former XXL Freshman quit Instagram and Twitter. That time, she offered a statement before leaving social media.
“I don’t care about being relevant. I just want to live my life and deserve for whatever I do in the privacy of my own property not to be on a blog," she wrote. "That’s just human decency and if it’s hard for you to understand then you have a warped sense of reality. I’m not here for yall, don’t want or need you to talk about me and would be wildly happy if being irrelevant meant being able to check the mail in the morning without seeing a photographer hiding out in a car across the street. Peace!”

IGGY Azalea has exposed the shocking X-rated DMS a string of celebrities have sent her begging for sex.
The Australian rapper, 30, shared screenshots on TikTok of the explicit messages from rappers, including one star who offered her $15,000 for a phone chat.
One celebrity, who has 27million followers on Instagram, made an X-rated offer.
And another, with 6.2million fans, DM'ed: "You need a Pooh Bear, I'll eat dat thing like a jar of honey."
One mystery man with 8.9million fans offered to transfer over thousands of dollars for a phone or Instagram conversation.
"I'll pay you for your time. I'll give you 15k just to speak to me and have a conversation," he begged.
"Over the phone or on here. I'll Cash App the money."
Yet another star offered to marry Iggy and insisted they would "protect" her better than her ex-boyfriend Playboi Carter .
"I'll play side n***a step daddy roleplay, toe massage, therapist, whatever role you want me to play," they said.
Iggy shared the screenshots - with the names blurred out - while dancing in front of them in a clip on TikTok.
"Ha ha ha as if!?!?! stay outta my DMs uglies," she captioned the video.
One fan begged her to reveal the identities of her inappropriate admirers, a request that the Fancy hitmaker refused.
"They know who they are, this is as mean as I can be lol," she wrote.
Another fan commented: "I don't understand why guys think messages like that will attract us to them."
Iggy replied: "Exactly. When have you ever said this and it's worked because I refuse to believe anyone is responding to this."
She added that she doesn't block the men, she usually just "denies" their message request.
The rapper - who has a baby son Onyx with Playboi - talked about the amount of famous people in her DMs in her explicit new song, Sip It.
"Rappers in my phone / in my DM / Won't leave me alone," she sings.
Iggy - real name Amethyst - revealed in June 2020 that she gave birth to a son , announcing: "I have a son.
“I kept waiting for the right time to say something but it feels like the more time passes the more I realise I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world."
"I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret and I love him beyond words."
In December, the Work rapper called Playboi "trash" for allegedly canceling his Christmas plans with her and their then nine-month-old to party with the woman who apparently broke up their relationship.
She claimed they had planned to spend the holiday together with their child.
But he apparently changed the plans last minute and threw a release party for his new album, Whole Lotta Red.
Iggy - who shaved her head back in October - tweeted: "I would never decide to do something of my own free will that meant missing a milestone moment with my son and if you do you’re trash."
"Too bad you got an album out but can’t even come to Christmas with your own son .
"Imagine not flying out your family on Christmas but you have the girl you cheated on my entire pregnancy at your album party and magically me and my son can’t come for Christmas any more? TRASH."

A third posted: “Nobody should ever have their privacy violated, made fun of by thousands, and be humiliated on social media. It’s honestly disgusting that people think it’s okay to do these type of things.”
Azalea described the leak as a “nuclear bomb that explodes and not only destroys you emotionally, but leaves a path of destruction in your personal life, affecting your relationships and people who matter most.”
She said she has been left “disturbed” by the comments from “men in particular” who have been “sharing their thoughts and fantasies” about her body. She is “fully intending on finding out where the leak originated from and pressing criminal charges.”
Azalea finished: “I don’t feel there is any where I can retreat to or that I have a ‘happy place’ I can wait until it all blows over.
“I have seen some really viscious s*** written in the last 24 hours and it is too much for me to handle. For now it’s best to keep my accounts deactivated. Please be kinder to one another.”
Photographer Nino Munoz who shot Azalea for GQ released a statement, saying he has been left “outraged and saddened to find out that images of mine were stolen and published without my permission.”
He wrote: “My heart goes out to anyone this situation has affected. I’m utterly outraged and will not rest until justice is served.”
GQ Australia editor Michael Christensen said: “We were very disappointed to learn that outtakes from a 2016 photo shoot which were not approved or intended for publication appear to have been stolen from the photographer. We understand an investigation is underway and join the condemnation of the publication of these images.”
