This week, the star noticeably deactivated her social media accounts, seemingly over leaked photos of the rapper. On Monday, the Grammy nominee issued a since-deleted statement on the leaked images, explaining they are outtakes from a 2016 GQ cover shoot.
"A lot of high profile women have shot covers for GQ with a strategically placed hand etc covering their breasts etc I always felt they were very beautiful covers, so I jumped at the opportunity," she explained online.
"I hadn't seen other women's covers leak so I felt comfortable (on a closed set) to model for such a reputable magazine knowing only the images with my hands covering would be considered for print. I never consented to taking topless pictures for potential release, period. It was my understanding BEFORE shooting, GQ do not print topless pictures."
Azalea continued, "There was no reason for anyone to have kept the outtakes from the shoot. I'm surprised and angry that they were not immediately deleted after the final images were selected." E! News has reached out to GQ for comment.
As for how Azalea is doing following the leak, she wrote, "Today Im a ball of negative emotions."
"I feel blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry, sad and a million other things," she candidly described. "Not solely because I did not consent to this – but also because of the vile way people have reacted. A lot of the comments I see from men in particular taking things even further and sharing their thoughts and fantasies in regards to my body has honestly disturbed me. The outright wicked things people say is overwhelming & makes me feel like throwing up."
As her message continued, she likened the situation to a nuclear bomb exploding. "If you've ever been humiliated before in front of family & those you care about maybe you can relate to what I'm going though [sic]. It's like a nuclear bomb that explodes and not only destroys you emotionally, but leaves a path of destruction in your personal life, effecting [sic] your relationships & people who matter most too," she star said.
Azalea noted she intends on finding out the origin of the leak and pressing criminal charges. "It's important to me that someone actually be held accountable for their actions & the way it impacts my life," she said.
The rapper explained she does not feel there is anywhere she can retreat to and thinks it is best to keep her accounts deactivated considering the negative things she's seen written about herself.
"Please be kinder to one another," the star encouraged as the statement concluded.

UPDATE: Hours after the surfacing of nude photos she'd taken for a 2016 GQ Australia photoshoot on Monday (May 27), Iggy Azalea re-activated her Twitter account and released a statement on the matter.
In the statement, which was written on what appear to be virtual iPhone Notes sheets, Iggy expresses her disappointment and frustration with both the leak of the photos and the reactions to the images. She plans to take the issue to court.
"I fully intend on finding out where the leak originated from and pressing criminal charges."

Iggy Azalea has deactivated her Twitter and Instagram accounts after nude photos of her leaked onto the internet on Monday (May 27).
News of the leak began to permeate the internet earlier today. The pics reportedly come from a photo shoot that allegedly took place years ago, and the session was shot by photographer Nino Muñoz for GQ Australia . However, afterward Iggy apparently opposed their release and they were not to be put out. Somehow, they made their way to the internet. After having an abundance of inappropriate comments flood her social media accounts, Iggy decided to leave social media for the time being.
This isn't the first time Iggy has deactivated her social media accounts. In 2015, the former XXL Freshman quit Instagram and Twitter. That time, she offered a statement before leaving social media.
“I don’t care about being relevant. I just want to live my life and deserve for whatever I do in the privacy of my own property not to be on a blog," she wrote. "That’s just human decency and if it’s hard for you to understand then you have a warped sense of reality. I’m not here for yall, don’t want or need you to talk about me and would be wildly happy if being irrelevant meant being able to check the mail in the morning without seeing a photographer hiding out in a car across the street. Peace!”

Monday night (May 27), Iggy Azalea announced her break from social media after semi-nude outtakes from her 2016 GQ photo shoot leaked online.
In a now deleted post, the "Fancy" rapper took to her Instagram to release a statement in light of the unauthorized release:
“Recently some outtakes from my 2016 GQ magazine cover were leaked to the public,” she began. “A lot of high profile women have shot covers for GQ with a strategically placed hand etc covering their breasts etc. I always felt they were very beautiful covers, so I jumped at the opportunity.”
She went on to explain her understanding of the GQ photoshoot as well. “I hadn’t seen other women’s covers leak so I felt comfortable (on a closed set) to model for such a reputable magazine knowing only the images with my hands covering would be considered for print... I never consented to taking topless pictures for potential release, period,” she explained. “It was my understanding BEFORE shooting [that] GQ do[es] not print topless pictures.”
"There was no reason for anyone to have kept the outtakes from the shoot, " Azalea continued, while expressing disappointment over the unpicked photos not being "immediately deleted," once they weren't selected for print.
Iggy went on to detail the various emotions resulting from her nudes going viral, and how the aftermath of the release not only affects her, but her loved ones as well.
“Today I’m a ball of negative emotions. I feel blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry, sad and a million other things. Not solely because I did not consent to this — but also because of the vile way people have reacted," the "Sally Walker" artist stated.
[It] makes me feel like throwing up. If you’ve ever been humiliated before in front of family & those you care about maybe you can relate to what I’m going through. It’s like a nuclear bomb that explodes and not only destroys you emotionally, but leaves a path of destruction in your personal life, effecting your relationships & people who matter most too.”
The Ignorant Art artist went on to say that she plans to press criminal charges behind the person(s) behind the release.
"I fully intended on finding out where the leak originated from and pressing criminal charges in regards to this. It's important to me that someone actually be held accountable for their actions & the way it impacts my life," Iggy stated. She then closed out by detail her decision to deactivate her social media accounts, as well as offered up one last bit of advice to fans:
"It is too much negativity for me to handle. For now it's best to keep my accounts deactivated. Please be kinder to one another.
News of the leak comes just barely a week shy of the rapper's 29th birthday, as well as on the heels of her 2019 release for her upcoming EP, In My Defense.
While no official updates have been made yet from the publication in regards to how the photos made it to the public, the original photographer from the GQ shoot, Nina Munoz, released her own statement on the matter, and offered her support to the hip hop artist.
“I'm outraged and saddened to find out that images of mine were stolen and published without my permission. There is currently an investigation underway. Posting these stolen images is illegal and anyone who has done so will be prosecuted. I empathize with any discomfort that this situation has caused to anyone that is involved."

Iggy Azalea sent social media into meltdown after she unveiled a slew of explicit messages that she had received on Instagram from mystery profiles with millions of followers
Iggy Azalea has leaked a series of X-rated messages that she has received on social media from prominent celebrities.
The 30-year-old Australian rapper took to her TikTok page earlier this week to share an edited video in which she danced around while the screenshots rolled behind her.
While the blonde bombshell kept the identities of the accounts hidden, she did reveal that the accounts had millions of Instagram followers and were verified by the platform.
In the expose, Iggy even revealed that one of the accounts had offered to pay her $15,000 just to be able to talk to her.
“I know you got money and it don’t excite you but I know ya time is valuable so I’ll pay you for ya time, I’ll give you $15k just to speak to me and have a conversation," read one message from a profile with 8.9 million followers.
Others were cruder, with one writing: "I want to kiss the inside of your b**t h**e."
Other mystery accounts offered to marry the star while one wrote: "I'll play side n***a step daddy roleplay, toe massage, therapist, whatever role you want me to play."
Alongside the clip, the mum of one simply wrote: "ha ha ha as if!?!?! stay outta my DMs uglies."

Naturally, Iggy's 2.9 million TikTok followers were loving the leaked message and applauded the star for clapping back.
Other followers also slipped into detective mode in a bid to try and uncover who the mystery Instagram profiles belonged to.
On Twitter, she then responded to a fan's question about whether the people in question were 'mad' at the TikTok video.
"No but a lot of normal guys said “thanks for not exposing me” lol. But I wouldn’t clown a nice msg." she wrote.
The clip came after Iggy also mentioned the amount of DMs she gets in her latest single, Sip It. At one point in the explicit lyrics, she raps: "'Rappers in my phone, in my DM, won't leave me alone."
As well as gearing up to release her latest album, Iggy also recently revealed that she would be getting her Covid vaccine later this month.
Writing on her Twitter profile, the music icon explained that she was getting the vaccine soon and hoped that she would be able to have a more normal summer as a result.
She said: "I’m getting my Covid vaccine later this month and I’m very excited! I’ll gladly feel like shit for a few days if it means I can potentially have a normal summer this year."
