Ice Fishing Live Cast
AKCHAKUL TRAVEL# Privacy Policy — Ice Fishing Live Cast
**Effective date:** 12 May 2026
**Last updated:** 12 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the **Ice Fishing Live Cast** mobile application ("the App", "we") handles information when you use it on your Android device.
We have built the App to be a self-contained fishing companion. **We do not run any backend, do not operate any servers that receive your personal data, do not sell or share data with advertisers, and do not embed any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.** Everything you store inside the App stays on your device.
## 1. Information we access on your device
### 1.1 Approximate and precise location
When you open the **Home** tab and either:
- launch the App (auto-centering the map on your area), or
- tap the GPS button, or
- ask the App for a weather forecast at "my location",
the App requests Android's location services (`ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION` / `ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION`) to obtain your current coordinates. Your coordinates are used:
- locally on your device, to center the map and to query the weather service for your region,
- **never** transmitted to any server we operate (we do not operate any),
- not retained outside the single request — the App does not log historical locations.
You can decline the location permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Ice Fishing Live Cast → Permissions. The App will still work; you will need to use the on-screen search to pick a location manually.
### 1.2 Data you choose to save inside the App
The following data is stored **locally** on your device only, inside the App's private storage:
- **Saved fishing spots** — names and coordinates of locations you bookmark for later reference.
- **Catch log entries** — species, date/time, optional length, weight, notes, rating, and the location you fished at, when you record a catch.
- **Settings** — your preferred theme (light/dark/system) and units (cm/in, kg/lb, °C/°F).
- **Onboarding state** — a flag indicating whether you have finished the welcome screens.
This data:
- never leaves your device,
- can be erased at any time by uninstalling the App (Android removes the App's data directory), or by tapping "Delete" on individual entries inside the App.
The App does not back up this data to the cloud, does not synchronize across devices, and does not export it to any third party.
## 2. Network requests the App makes
The App needs the `INTERNET` and `ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE` permissions to fetch:
### 2.1 Weather forecast — Open-Meteo
- **Provider:** [Open-Meteo](https://open-meteo.com)
- **Data sent:** the latitude and longitude of the spot you are forecasting for.
- **Data received:** hourly and daily weather (temperature, pressure, wind, precipitation, sunrise/sunset).
- **Why:** to compute the bite-activity score and display the forecast.
Open-Meteo is a free, open-source weather API operated by an independent non-profit team in Switzerland. They state in [their own privacy policy](https://open-meteo.com/en/terms#privacy) that they do not retain personal data from API calls. We do not have any agreement with Open-Meteo other than as a public API user.
### 2.2 Reverse geocoding — Nominatim (OpenStreetMap)
- **Provider:** [Nominatim](https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org), operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
- **Data sent:** the coordinates of the spot you select.
- **Data received:** a human-readable place name (city, county, country).
- **Why:** so the App can label the forecast with something like "Mountain View" instead of "37.422, -122.084".
The App also queries Nominatim's `/search` endpoint when you type a place name into the in-app search bar (city, lake, river). The text you type is sent to Nominatim to resolve it to coordinates.
The OpenStreetMap Foundation's [usage policy](https://operations.osmfoundation.org/policies/nominatim/) governs this service.
### 2.3 Map tiles — Carto and OpenStreetMap
Map tile images displayed in the Home tab are fetched from:
- `basemaps.cartocdn.com` (light and dark map styles operated by Carto), and
- `tile.openstreetmap.org` (fallback if Carto is unreachable).
These services receive the standard request metadata any web browser sends when loading an image: your IP address, the User-Agent string, and the requested tile coordinates. We do not control what Carto or OpenStreetMap log on their side.
## 3. What the App does NOT do
To make the App's behavior explicit:
- ❌ We do **not** operate any backend server that receives or stores your data.
- ❌ We do **not** sell, rent, share or transfer your data to third parties for advertising or marketing.
- ❌ We do **not** embed any third-party advertising SDK, analytics SDK, A/B testing SDK, attribution SDK, crash reporting SDK, or push-notification SDK.
- ❌ We do **not** collect device identifiers (no AAID/GAID, no device ID, no IMEI).
- ❌ We do **not** require an account, registration, login, or any form of personal information.
- ❌ We do **not** access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, calendar, SMS, call log, files, or any other sensitive data.
- ❌ We do **not** track you across other apps or websites.
## 4. Permissions summary
The App requests only the following Android permissions:
- **INTERNET** *(required)* — to fetch weather forecasts and map tiles from the public providers listed in section 2.
- **ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE** *(required)* — to detect whether your device is online and surface a clear error if it is not.
- **ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION** *(optional)* — to center the map on your current position and request a forecast at "my location". The App functions without this permission; you can pick a location manually instead.
- **ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION** *(optional)* — used as a fallback when fine location is unavailable.
We do **not** request any other permission.
## 5. Children's privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). Because we do not collect personal information at all, there is no special data category that would apply to younger users.
## 6. Your rights
You have full control over data the App stores on your device:
- **Access:** open the **Spots** tab to see saved locations and the **Log** tab to see your catch history.
- **Correction:** edit any saved entry directly in the App.
- **Deletion:** tap "Delete" on any individual entry, or uninstall the App to remove everything at once.
- **Portability:** because there is no remote storage, all data resides on your device — you control its export through standard Android device backups, if you choose to enable them in your device settings.
If you reside in a jurisdiction that grants additional data-protection rights (such as the EU's GDPR or California's CCPA), those rights apply to the limited extent we process any data — and as described above, we do not retain personal data on any server.
## 7. Security
The App stores its local data using Android's standard app sandbox. Third-party network endpoints (Open-Meteo, Nominatim, Carto, OpenStreetMap) are accessed over HTTPS.
We do not have access to your data at any point because we operate no backend. We therefore cannot suffer a data breach involving your information.
## 8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes to third-party services we use, or changes in applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
If we make a material change that affects how your data is handled, we will surface a notice in the App on the next launch.
## 9. Contact
