I put off buying one of these for years because I considered it to be a cliché and plus I have 5 other dirt pedals. I am glad I finally did. In front of my Orange Rocker Terror it is KILLER. The popular thing to do is run the drive almost all the way down and the level all the way up which is kind of a waste of a good pedal. You can see how I am running mine and with my PRS SE it sounds pro level. Cant wait to try it with my Strat and gain stack it with my SD-1 and Full Tone OCD. Legendary for a reason.

When you can't get that smooth sustaining whail out of your dirt channel for a solo it's great. Tune to your desired tone with one knob. Adds harmonics as well. Gives a good amount of grit to the clean channel too. It is noisy so a noise gate may be desired to use with it. Also I have seen better distortion boxes. I use mine with the right knob all the way up, left knob all the way down and tone just a smidgen left of 12 oclock. I have never seen one break. So there's that too.

This pedal....so much has been said about it. Legendary...is the word often used. Using this term is extremely accurate. It's THE sound. It's basically turning a tube amp into a higher quality, better sounding Boss Metal zone. Many call it or use it as a "Boost" pedal. That isn't quite accurate. When people say "boost" most think about a boost in volume. It boosts the mid frequency and Gain. Put this pedal in the front(not the FX loop) of the amp with your Amp's distortion channel gain set to around 12-1 o' clock. Set this pedal to 0 Drive, Tone...wherever u want and Volume up past 12 o clock somewhere and you have literal awesomeness. I have a Marshall amp and one of the most irritating things about Marshall's distortion tone is the "woody" sounding bass. You cannot get rid of it unless you dial the bass to 0 and then your guitar sounds like it's coming from some old transistor radio. Use a tube screamer in conjunction with a Marshall amps distortion produces some of the best sounds ever and you will want to play the damn guitar all day! They say it "tightens" the sound. It does far more than this. It increases the mids. It increases the High's and the Marshall's "woody" bass is altered to usable bass. It increases the gain which means you can have your amp's gain level lower and still get some amazing sounds. It's also great on it's own. You need an overdrive just on the threshold of clipping that sounds magical...look no further! This is IT! Amazing Legendary pedal hand's down!

This pedal is a classic for a reason. In the past I made the mistake of discounting it as a simple boost pedal and not an effective overdrive. However after searching for the perfect "transparent" "always on" overdrive pedal, I decided to give this one a shot and I'm so glad I did. My amp is an Orange CR60, I have the clean channel set with no breakup. I run my tube screamer as my first pedal (followed by a Rat and a Big Muff) with the Gain set to 0, Tone at noon and Level at about 2 o'clock. Even at 0 gain this pedal provides a smooth/warm bit of gain that really compliments a clean tone. What's also cool is I can still hear the clean signal coming through as well. So this pedal doesn't replace your signal, it adds character to it. Awesome overdrive!
