May 2 | Update 2.115.4 is released
The Ingress team releases Update 2.115.4 in the App Store and Play Store. The usual Release Notes are not posted, but we can see work being done on Adventure Sync and the upcoming Nearby feature.

May 20 | Phase 2 of the Echo Anomaly
On May 20th, Agents around the world once again battled over the Echo Anomaly and for the control of Phase 2 in three different cities globally. After some server issues during the Brighton Anomaly the Enlightened took home the victory with a point total of 585 to 335. The Resistance will have one last chance to win the entire Echo series during Phase 3 on June 17th.

May 22 | "Reclaimer" medal is introduced
With the re-emergence of Machina the NIA has published their first Machina Report. The NIA shared their initial findings, detailing possible Machina evolutions in the future. They also discovered that by capturing a portal that was previously belonged to Machina, Agents receive Machina XM energy. This energy cannot be used by Agents yet, but the NIA has introduced a new medal that will be awarded to Agents that recapture Machina portals.

May 23 | Update 2.116.2 is released
The Ingress team releases Update 2.116.2 in the App Store and Play Store. The usual Release Notes are not posted once again, but we were able to observe some new QOL changes and bug fixes.
May 24 | Recapturing a Machina portal awards 1331AP
To help aid Agents in recapturing Machina portals, the NIA is now awarding an additional 1331AP once a Portal is recaptured.
May 26 | Adventure Sync: Nearby is activated
Niantic activates the new Nearby feature for Adventure Sync. When activated, the Scanner scans the surroundings and notifies Agents of nearby Machina portals or new, uncaptured Portals (in theory, at least).

May 30 | Update 2.117.1 is released
The Ingress team releases Update 2.117.1 in the App Store and Play Store. The Release Notes in the stores officially announce the Nearby feature and the 1331AP for recapturing a Portal. The update also removed the warning pop-ups that remind you to stay alert of your surroundings after the app is started, leaving the alert under the Ingress logo during startup. Brian reminds everyone to continue to keep aware of their surroundings.

May 5 | Restock portals return to on-site IFS events
With the return of on-site IFS events a while ago, Portal Frackers were deployed after an event to help Agents restock their inventory. The May IFS saw the return of the restock portals that were used before Covid-19 so Agents can refill their inventory with just a simple hack.

May 12 | PSA about the "The Candidate" biocard from Origin Kit 02
Origin Kit 02 includes a "The Candidate" biocard as the Throwback Character Card. This is the first time that this biocard comes with a passcode, which made people assume that it contains a new character badge. We posted a note to give a heads up that that is not the case and that the passcode rewards the ADA 2019 medal which was already given out in the past, which might lead to Agents burning their code if they have already received the medal.

May 30 | Ingress Origins Kit 03 goes on sale
The third Ingress Origins kit was made available for purchase! It's themed around the Visur Tech Company and the researcher Stein Lightman and includes various Swag designed around Visur.

RES | Echo Athens Swag
The Resistance have opened their Swag shop for the Anomaly in Athens this month! You can check out their store and purchase Swag at https://www.anomalysite.blue/athens/shop/
Note that the orders have to picked up on-site. If you are not attending Athens you need someone that will collect your Swag for you.
Be quick! Some of the Items go into production soon and will be removed from the shop.
