IUENG - Group Rules
InvestigateXMThese rules are in place for our discussion group and have to be followed. As they are automatically posted into the discussion group, comments on channel posts also fall under these rules, even if the person posting them is not part of the discussion group.
Violating these rules can result in either a warn, a mute or a ban from the group at the moderators discretion.
Remember that these rules exist not only to the letter, but in spirit. Attempts to circumvent these rules will be seen as breaking the rules as well.
- Be kind
Also knows as Wheaton’s Law. We are all humans who love Ingress and who make mistakes. Don't be a jerk.
- Include everyone
Don't do anything that might make someone feel like they don't belong. This includes but is not limited to generalizations of types of people, hate speech, or discriminatory language based on gender, religion, ethnicity or sex. This also includes attacking others based on their faction.
- Do not attack or insult anyone
This includes both direct as well as indirect attacks ("The guy above me is stupid"). If someone insults you or is annoying you, it is not a free pass to insult them in turn.
This includes members of both the Ingress team and Niantic as a whole. While it is fine to say "Man, Niantic sucks", it is not allowed to specifically name any member of the team like John Hanke, Brian and Thia. This also extends to replacing their name with their position, so "Why is the CEO/Product Manager/Community Manager so dumb" is not allowed either.
- Limit toxic comments on the opposing Faction
Being proud of your faction's victories and achievements is perfectly fine, as well as commenting fairly on the opposing Faction. On the other hand, making fun of or directing unnecessary sarcasm at the opposing Faction is really annoying and spoils the discussion group environment.
- Keep the group in English
This group has members from all over the world, and the likelihood of everyone speaking your native language is very small. Only post messages in English.
- Listen to the moderation team
We may at times take action that don't sit right with you. Nevertheless, we're trying to make our group a fun place to hang out in. The moderation team has full trust from the admins, so every moderation they initiate is to be considered pre-approved, even if it doesn't make sense to you. Follow the instructions of mods and, if you really must, take your arguments to private chat.
- Follow Niantic TOS and Player Guidelines within our chat
This includes, but is not limited to talking about specific cheating methods (Spoofing, multi-accounting and manipulation of Adventure Sync), linking to or sharing screenshots of sites or listings that break TOS as well as calling out other agents for participating in such activities.

- Don't spam
This includes spamming messages, pictures, GIFs etc., but also includes posting advertisements. Of course, this includes spam bots as well.
- No Gatekeeping
Ingress is a game that can be played in a multitude of ways. Suggesting or shaming someone that they play the game "wrong" is annoying, condescending and not wanted here. This also includes stuff like "Overclock? No thanks, I'd rather play Ingress." or "If you don't do X you're not playing Ingress."
- Immediate Ban reasons
There are some topics that, when posted, will result in an immediate ban. These are:
🔸Sharing messages of violence, terrorism, abuse, racism or nudity
🔸Spread of conspiratory or controversial theories (E.g. COVID denial, etc...)
🔸Shilling for Crypto (including NFTs)
