IRAN:Retired Mime Directs Traffic, Improves Morale Dramatically

In one of the more surreal moments of Tehran�s evacuation, a retired street mime has taken over a major intersection and is now directing traffic with imaginary ropes and exaggerated expressions. To everyone�s shock, it works. �People stop honking just to watch,� said a bystander. Motorists actually obey his silent commands�partly out of curiosity, partly because nothing else is working. The mime, known only as Omid, claims he once trained with Cirque du Soleil �before the revolution and lower back pain.� Officials have offered him an official role, which he politely declined with a theatrical bow and invisible cane twirl.
