The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's crude oil and LNG production passes, has been one of Iran's main goals in the conflict with the United States and Israel. After Tehran attacked six ships, maritime traffic along this vital energy artery practically stopped, Reuters notes.

Iran is an important manufacturer of combat drones and has sufficient industrial capacity to produce about 10,000 drones per month.

"Iran is not going to give up easily or quickly. He has the tools to make the Strait of Hormuz unsafe for commercial shipping," said Bob McNally, president of Rapidan Energy Group.

"It is enough for Tehran to demonstrate that it can sink several oil tankers, and fear will do the rest."
