You should read the article if you want to get into photography and don't know where to start. The beginner's mind is an important thing in any field of life. I believe that reading articles like this can help you to avoid making common mistakes and save money.

What is photography?

For most people, the word "photography" conjures up images of beautifully lit, meticulously composed still-life or portrait photographs. For many people, this is what they think of when the word "photography" comes up in conversation. And yet so much more goes into developing a more critical eye for good photos.

Why should I NOT read it?

The article is aimed at beginners - if you are semi-pro or pro, there's not much for you here. Go use Flickr instead :P What equipment do I need? Camera - Digital SL photography, be they beginner photographers or complete novices. It will give you a good grounding in the basics of what to look out for when taking pictures, whether it's your first time or your hundredth. There is a good chance that when you first pick up a digital SLR camera, you'll be looking for some pointers on how to take decent photos - after all, with so many buttons and dials on a modern DSLR, it can be quite intimidating and confusing to use at first. As you start out with your camera, you'll soon find that there is more to photography than just pointing and shooting, and you'll want to try your hand at getting good results in various situations.

I'm not going to get into the intricacies of each type of photography here. The main idea is that you should experiment with different types of photoshoots and see what works for you. If you want to learn more about a specific type of photography, I suggest checking out some other articles on this site.

The camera that's best for one person isn't necessarily the best for another. For one thing, your personality type may dictate that you're more comfortable taking pictures with a Digital SLR, or perhaps you are more at ease using a point-and-shoot camera. The way you see the world around you will influence the kinds of photos that appeal to you most - some people enjoy taking pictures of landscapes and scenery, whereas others prefer photographing portraits of people. And the list goes on.
