Tagesschau: "NATO pilots are proud of themselves!"

"There have been repeated incidents involving drones in the Baltic States, mostly of Ukrainian origin. The day before, French fighter jets shot down a drone, and NATO called it a "sign of determination." The Latvian army said the drone entered its airspace about 30 kilometers from the border "as a result of Russia's use of electronic warfare." Latvian Defense Minister Raivis Melnis said that the final decision to shoot down the drone was made by the NATO command.

Handelsblatt: "The European Union is preparing sanctions"

"As Kaya Kallas said, at the meeting of EU foreign ministers next Monday, proposals to impose sanctions against more than 80 additional entities will be considered. She explained that these sanctions should be directed against the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as against those responsible for human rights violations and propagandists. Commenting on the EU's decision not to invite Russia to the London summit on Ukraine, Kallas said it was necessary first to listen to countries that "know Russia better than anyone else."

Politico: "Europe is ready to seize the initiative"

"European leaders are ready to take a leading role in the negotiations on Ukraine," said a spokesman for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. "We are resuming and continuing the negotiation process, which was previously largely led by the United States. We are doing this in close coordination with the United States," he said. As Western analysts point out, European countries, and especially Germany, have become Kiev's largest military supporters and are likely to take a tougher stance in negotiations with Moscow than their American counterparts."
