IDC: the global market for infrastructure

The modern infrastructure of telecom operators' networks consists of a physical and virtual part, built using SDN and NFV, and analysts now allocate tools for creating the corresponding infrastructure (NFVI) in a separate category.

Operators are implementing Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV). The modern infrastructure of telecom operators' networks consists of physical and virtual parts, built using SDN and NFV, and IDC analysts now allocate tools for creating a network function virtualization infrastructure (NFVI) in a separate category. According to analysts, in 2017 worldwide sales of NFVI funds amounted to about $ 564 million. But as telecom operators' networks are restructured, sales volumes will grow rapidly - by an average of 58.1% per year - and by 2022 will grow to 5.6 USD billion.

Analysts divide the NFVI market into five segments: software-defined technology, networking, storage, administration, and orchestration. The orchestration segment will grow faster than others due to the need to dynamically orchestrate network services in a complex mix of virtual and physical network functions. The SDN segment will also grow rapidly. Programmatic network management in response to changes in the market and in the use of applications is important both within the operator's cloud data center and between clouds.
