Kim Do-kyun (48), the promotion contractor, has been appointed as the new head coach of Seoul E-Land FC.
Seoul E-Land officially announced on the 14th that it has appointed Kim Do-kyun as its head coach to lead the 2024 season. The club gave high marks for Kim Do-kyun's aggressive soccer style and leadership that leads the players. In particular, it highly evaluated his promotion as well as his stable settlement in the K-League 1, and judged him to be the right person to lead Seoul E-Land in the 2024 season.
Manager Kim Do-kyun said, "As a soccer player, I was interested in the development and promotion of Seoul E-Land FC. I'm glad that I can take on the challenge with responsibility. I will do my best to bring new energy to the team."
Coach Kim Do-kyun was a defensive midfielder who represented the league, including his debut with Ulsan Hyundai in 1999, captain of the Sydney Olympics in 2000, and runner-up in the K-League in 2003. Soon after his retirement, he served as the head coach of the Ulsan youth team and served as the scouting and general director of the youth team.
Coach Kim Do-kyun, who made his K-League debut with Suwon FC in 2019, succeeded in being promoted immediately in his first year as a manager by banking on his hot attacking football. He then advanced to the Final A and ranked fourth in the regular league in the 2021 season. He has experience of stably growing his team by succeeding in remaining in the K-League 1 in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
He is known as a rehabilitation plant manager. Manager Kim Do-kyun created a sensation in the K-League 1 by utilizing offensive resources such as Lee Seung-woo (25), Lee Kwang-hyuk (28), and Yang Dong-hyun (37) in the right place. He scored 53 and 56 goals in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, respectively, to rank third and second in overall goal tally for all teams in the league.
It ended with a beautiful breakup with its former club. Suwon FC went to the playoffs by ranking 11th in the Hana One Q K League 1 2023 and secured a 5-2 victory in the second round of promotion and promotion PO against Busan I'Park amid a desperate crisis, leading Suwon FC to remain in the top division with a combined 6-4 in the first and second rounds.
