“I want to increase the success rate rather than the number of SVs”

Will Lee Yong-chan (NC Dinos), who showed some disappointment last year, be able to bounce back this season?

Lee Yong-chan, a graduate of Jangchung High School, is a right-handed pitcher whose strengths include a heavy fastball and sharp forkball. He began his professional career by being called by the Doosan Bears as a first-round pick in 2007, and has been wearing the NC uniform since the 2021 season. He played in 440 games (102 starts, 937.1 innings) until the 2022 season, recording 57 wins, 56 losses, 128 saves, 7 holds, and an earned run average of 3.70.

Lee Yong-chan started the season as an unrivaled closing pitcher in 2023 as well. However, he showed a lot of ups and downs and did not give us a clear belief. He faltered in April with an earned run average of 6.35. He seemed to rebound in May with an ERA of 2.25, but he faltered again in June with an ERA of 4.91. Afterwards, he revived with an ERA of 2.45 in July, an ERA of 1.64 in August, and an ERA of 1.80 in September, but he was not good again in October, which was the end of the season. He appeared in 8 games, but did not show stability with 1 loss, 3 saves, and an ERA of 12.00 (6 innings, 8 runs allowed). His final regular league performance was 4 wins, 4 losses, 29 saves, and an ERA of 4.13 in 60 appearances (61 innings).
