I. 34. Paradise

I. 34. Paradise

Bogdan Georgievich Lisitsa

Adam and Eve symbolize all of humanity during the period of slavery and hard work in the mines for diamonds and gold for reptiles. Paradise - this is what the Bible calls this stage in the life of humanity. To understand why the hard life of humanity during this period is called "Paradise", we need to quote Varlam Tikhonovich Shalamov - a Russian Soviet prose writer and poet, a political prisoner who went through the GULAG:

"... Like any physical work, the work of a wheelbarrow driver is immeasurably humiliating because of its slave, Kolyma accent. But like any physical work, working with a wheelbarrow requires some skills, attention, dedication. And when your body understands this little, rolling a wheelbarrow becomes easier than waving a pick, hitting with a crowbar, shuffling with a pick shovel. The difficulty is all in balance, in keeping the wheel on the ramp, on a narrow board...

... Will they give you anything to eat that day - you didn't think about that, you didn't think about anything, nothing remained in your brain except curses, anger and - helplessness..."

(Varlam Shalamov: Wheelbarrow)

During the period of Paradise, people didn't have to think, others thought for them. There was no need to take responsibility. It was a period of slavery, a period of humanity's childhood.
