Oh hello, Best of 2015 list. I would like to introduce you to Duke of Burgundy , a film I saw in 2014 that is only being released this weekend and that is one of the great films of the last few years. Yes, one of the great films. Visually lush, thematically rich and wickedly witty, Duke of Burgundy is about two women who are in a BDSM relationship that includes plenty of role play, bondage and humiliation, but - in the film anyway - little nudity and maximum sensuality. Go jump in a lake, Fifty Shades of Grey , here's the great S&M film of our times.

Part of what makes Duke of Burgundy so excellent is the way it explores the reality of the power dynamics of the relationship. It isn't usually the domme who is truly in control, and Peter Strickland's movie goes after that in intriguing ways - as this Human Toilet clip shows.

You should know that Duke of Burgundy is set in a heightened world, one not quite like our own. I think you'll get a sense of that in this clip, which features one of my favorite scenes in the film.
