Hulu Announces 'King of the Hill' Reboot with Original Creators and Fresh Twists

Los Angeles, CA – May 15, 2025 – In a move that has fans of classic animated sitcoms buzzing, Hulu has officially announced a revival of the beloved series King of the Hill, with original creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels returning to helm the project. The revival, set to premiere in 2026, will bring back Hank Hill and his quirky Arlen, Texas, neighbors while introducing new storylines for a modern audience.

What to Expect in the Reboot

The new King of the Hill will pick up years after the original series ended, with Hank (voiced once again by Mike Judge) now navigating fatherhood to a grown-up Bobby (still voiced by Pamela Adlon), who has taken an unexpected career path. Meanwhile, Peggy, Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill will return, with their lives reflecting contemporary issues—such as Dale’s conspiracy theories evolving in the age of social media and Bill’s ongoing quest for self-improvement.

Hulu has confirmed that most of the original voice cast will reprise their roles, though some recasting may occur due to the passing of key actors like Brittany Murphy (Luanne) and Tom Petty (Lucky). The show will maintain its signature dry humor and heartwarming storytelling while addressing modern-day topics like renewable energy (Hank’s propane business faces new competition), changing Texan demographics, and even the rise of AI (Dale’s worst nightmare).

Why Now?

Mike Judge stated in a press release: 'We always felt like there were more stories to tell with Hank and the gang. The world has changed a lot since 2010, and seeing how these characters adapt—or refuse to—felt like the right time to bring them back.'

Greg Daniels added that the reboot will balance nostalgia with fresh storytelling, ensuring longtime fans and new viewers alike will find something to love.

Release Plans

Hulu has ordered an initial 12-episode season, with potential for more if the revival is a hit. The series will join Hulu’s growing lineup of adult animated hits, including Futurama and Solar Opposites.

Fans can expect teasers and casting updates later this year. For now, propane—and propane accessories—enthusiasts can rejoice: King of the Hill is officially returning.
