Ariel Winter opens up about her breast reduction yet again

I grabbed my car keys and checked my watch.
"Come on, love, we're going to be late," I called to my daughter Kacie, 10.
As she wandered down the stairs ready for school, I did a double take.
The buttons on her shirt were straining against her chest – her boobs had definitely grown again.
She'd started her period just a few weeks before and it seemed overnight she'd shot up from an A-cup to a B.
I'd mentioned it to the school nurse but she'd just said it was puppy fat.
It seemed odd to me, though, because the rest of her body was tiny.
A week later, I decided to take Kacie to the doctor to voice my concerns.
He said it was quite common for girls with Kacie's condition to go through early puberty.
"I think it's more than puberty," I fretted to my fiancé, Peter.
A month later, Peter and I got married.
Kacie was our bridesmaid and looked so pretty with her hair in a long plait.
But as I helped her into her pale blue gown, I couldn't help but notice one of her breasts was bigger than the other.
They thought it was just puberty. Image: Supplied
And just a few weeks after the wedding, the size difference between them was huge – one was a B-cup and the other a D.
She'd grown out of the first lot of bras I'd bought for her so I took her to a store to get fitted.
"Oh my goodness!" the sales assistant gasped, as she wrapped the measuring tape around her.
"I'm afraid we don't have anything suitable here".
There simply weren't any shops that stocked bras for such lopsided chests.
I had to go online and get some made-to-order.
As the weeks passed, her chest continued to swell and she was in constant pain as the skin stretched.
She had countless hospital appointments for ultrasounds and blood tests, but everything came back negative.
Soon, poor Kacie couldn't walk without being hunched over.
She couldn't run around like other kids her age, instead she had to lie on the couch in front of the TV.
By now Kacie had huge J-cup breasts , having gone up nine bra sizes in four months.
To my horror, it seemed the skin under her boobs had started to tear.
I took her back to the GP that very day. But he just sent her away with soothing cream and painkillers – I wanted to scream.

In the end, I had to get a specialist to refer to us another GP who finally took us seriously.
Kacie was sent to hospital for pain management – morphine and hormone injections.
"The hormones will make the problem worse initially," the doctor warned me.
And they did. One afternoon a nurse came to check on Kacie and gasped.
"They've grown in the last couple of hours! She cried.
A blood test revealed her calcium levels were too high.
"We need to get them down right now," a doctor said anxiously. "It could be fatal if the calcium solidifies and causes organ failure."
Suddenly, Kacie started vomiting luminous green liquid.
"Oh my God," I screamed. "Please do something!"
"I just want her to get better". Image: Supplied
She was rushed to a dependency unit where doctors battled to save her life.
It broke my heart seeing my poor little girl lying in bed all covered in tubes.
They seemed to be gawking, unable to believe how big her boobs were.
She's not a freak show , I thought angrily. Finally, five days later, she was put on a drug to slow down her breast growth.
We were by her side for hours until she woke up after the surgery. Image: Supplied
After that, a doctor took me and Peter into a private room.
"I'm afraid there's only one way we can cure Kacie's condition… and it's quite drastic," he said slowly.
"Go on," I urged, feeling anxious. "I just want her to get better."

Fiona Hornby, 25, from Bolton, says she can only stand up for five minutes at a time
A MUM says she has been left housebound because her 48J boobs won't stop growing.
Fiona Hornby, from Bolton, watched in horror as her C-cup chest grew during puberty - leaving her breasts covered in painful sores, spots and purple rashes.
The 25-year-old can't stand up for more than five minutes at a time because of her crippling back pain, meaning she's trapped in her house, and struggles to find clothes which fit her.
Fiona, a payroll clerk, said: "My huge breasts have ruined my life. They have affected everything.
"My self-esteem has hit rock bottom, I can't find any clothes that fit and can't wear the same things as people my age.
"I have terrible back pains caused by the weight of my breasts. I can't hoover or sleep properly.
"If I do washing up I have to take a break halfway through because the pain is terrible.
"I find it difficult to go out in public because people think I've got big boobs because I look fat. Some people have even asked if I have had a boob job as they're that large."
Fiona was diagnosed with a condition called macromastia, which causes abnormal enlargement of the breast tissue, in 2015.
She said: "Everything I wore put my boobs on show. When I was still in primary school I was a C-cup.
"I'd be called a 'slag' because it always looked like I was trying to show them off but I wasn't, I just wanted to wear the same things as other girls.
"The pain can be horrendous. I once got really terrified because I was getting in the bath and I looked down and my breasts were purple.
"People say 'I wish could swap with you' but I say 'you don't,'.
"I once went to get a bra fitted and I went to the changing room and the lady in the fitting room turned to me and said 'we don't do your size'. It was very, very upsetting."
The intense pain means Fiona barely sleeps and can't go to the gym anymore.
She said: "When I'm in bed it's like I'm suffocating. I can't lie on my front because they're too heavy.
"It's like having a huge weight on my chest. Getting to sleep can be a real struggle sometimes.
"In 2013 I used to go to the gym and I weighed just seven-and-a-half stone but since my bust has continued to grow it has been impossible to work out.
"My boobs just didn't stop growing and just got bigger and bigger and droopier and droopier.
"If I wanted to wear something the same size as other girls I'd have to get it at least five sizes up so the clothes would at least fit.
"I used to work in retail but I can't stand up for long periods of time now so I need to have a desk job. If I go on a 25-minute walk, I'm just in absolute agony.
"I want people to understand how hard it's been, I've put weight on because I can't move properly because my boobs are so large. It's a vicious circle."
Fiona welcomed her first son William in November and says she struggles to care for her newborn because of her boobs.
She's desperate to have life-changing breast reduction surgery but claims she has been told she can't get it on the NHS, so she's raising £5,500 for a private op instead.
She said: "I can't hold my baby close to me because my boobs are so big I can't even see him and he could suffocate.
"I wasn't able to breastfeed him as a baby. I was terrified I was going to suffocate him because I couldn't hold him properly because i was having to hold my boobs. I couldn't even see his face.
"If I had the operation I'd feel like a new person. I'd be starting life again, I'd be able to go shopping for blouses and clothes I've not been able to wear.
"I've considered moving to have the surgery because it seems like there's no other option.
"Having the surgery will give me the ability to live normally."
A spokesman for NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group said they were unable to comment on individual cases.

A petite 18-year-old has revealed how she is finally pain free for the first time in years following reduction surgery on her 28EE breasts - which she says were 'a huge target for cruel taunts and unwanted attention from older guys'.
Lilli Maki, from Seattle, Washington, begged her parents for the $10,000 operation when she was just 16 years old, with the procedure then taking place when she was 17.
At just 5ft, Lilli, who is a size XS without her large breasts, said her bust left her in constant agony until 15lb of fat was removed from her chest to leave her with a 28B cup size.
The high school student had to wear two bras when cheerleading or running, said her underwear felt more like a straitjacket and admitted that she would receive cruel taunts from her classmates.
Lilli Maki (pictured right, recently), of Seattle, Washington, has revealed how she is finally pain free for the first time in years following reduction surgery on her 28EE breasts (pictured left) - which she says were 'a huge target for cruel taunts and unwanted attention from older guys'
Lilli (pictured after the breast reduction) begged her parents for the $10,000 operation when she was just 16 years old, with the procedure then taking place when she was 17
Lilli said her self esteem and confidence has rocketed since surgery, insisting she feels like a 'brand new person because the weight was literally taken off my shoulders'.
Recalling the comments she'd receive about her larger bust, she said: 'I remember being the butt of everyone's jokes - them mocking me about how I looked.
'Then, on the flipside, I was flooded with comments and messages about how "hot" and "older for my age" I looked as a minor.'
The teenager revealed men as old as 50 would hit on her or try to touch her 28EE breasts.
'Having big boobs made me a huge target for unwanted attention from older guys particularly,' she confessed. 'They tried to be friendly or tell me "you're so mature for your age".
'It was so gross and uncomfortable but at the same time, I found my body disgusting so hearing that anyone liked it almost made me feel good.'
At just 5ft, Lilli (pictured before the reduction), who is a size XS without her large breasts, said her bust left her in constant agony until 15lb of fat was removed from her chest to leave her with a 28B cup size
Lilli was also subjected to taunts from her classmates, with one group of boys even making a video mocking her chest before sending it to people throughout her school.
'That same group of boys continuously messaged me and harassed me on my Instagram pictures,' she said.
By the end of her seventh grade, Lilli was a 32D, and she reached 32DDD when aged 15 - with the extra weight putting a strain on her back and shoulders.
She recalled: 'I had constant pain in my shoulders, my lower and upper back. My neck was constantly hurting from holding myself up all day. It was exhausting.
'Not only was it draining for my body, but for my mind as well. I couldn't get away with wearing clothes most girls my age were wearing, and if I did, I got called names - not just from kids but from adults too.
'Physically, it was hard for me to enjoy being active. Running and cheerleading were the two main activities I had done, and I was never comfortable. I constantly felt held back by my chest.'
The high school student (pictured before her reduction surgery) had to wear two bras when cheerleading or running, said her underwear felt more like a straitjacket and admitted that she would receive cruel taunts from her classmates
When she was only 16, Lilli started asking her parents Nona and Mat, both 45, about breast reduction surgery and in April 2020 she booked her first consultation.
She said: 'I'd always wanted one, I think since I was a sophomore and realized they weren't going anywhere. At the time right before my surgery I measured 28EE.'
Lilli was 17 when she had her operation in August last year at Tacoma General Hospital, which was worth around $10,000 but mostly covered by insurance.
She currently wears bras of size 28B or C which she feels is 'far more proportionate to my body', and has also gotten back into athletics.
Relieved Lilli said: 'I'm not breathless anymore is one of the main things and I can run without having to wear two bras. It felt like I was wearing a straitjacket and having to be active while wearing that is crazy.
'I never in a million years thought I would buy a bikini in an XS, that would fit both my body and my boobs.
'I have a new found confidence and appreciation for my body. My self esteem and confidence is the ultimate gift I've gotten from my surgery.'
