Salma Hayek has gone on the record to say that yes, her breasts are real — but she can understand why fans might think otherwise.
“A lot of people said that I had breast augmentation. I don’t blame them! My boobs were smaller! So was the rest of my body,” the 54-year-old actress said Wednesday on “ Red Table Talk ,” the Facebook Watch series Jada Pinkett Smith co-hosts with her daughter, Willow Smith, and mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.
Her growth, however, is all natural. Hayek explained that it happened significantly during life changes like pregnancy, menopause and periods of weight gain.
“For some women, they get smaller. But there are some women that when you gain weight, your boobs grow, and other women that when you have children and you breastfeed your boobs grow and they don’t go back down, and then in some of the cases when you are in menopause, they grow again,” she said. “I just happen to be one of those women that it happened in every single step! When I gain weight, when I got pregnant and when I am in menopause.”
While her breasts “just kept growing,” she said it’s been a pain.
“Many, many sizes. And my back has been really suffering from it,” she said. “And not a lot of people talk about this.”
While the hot flashes and emotional intensity of menopause are often talked about, Hayek noted that the breast growth came as a surprise.
“I’ll tell you what they don’t tell you. The boobs grow — a lot,” said Hayek, who recently announced an HBO Max project about talking menopausal boobs.
Getting older, though, has also taught the entertainer that stereotypes about women expiring when they hit a certain age are a completely destructive narrative.
“There’s no expiration dates for women. That has to go. Because you can kick ass at any age. You can hold your own at any age, you can dream at any age, you can be romantic at any age,” she said. “We have the right to be loved for who we are at the place that we are. We’re not just here to make babies, we’re not just here to baby the men. We’re not just here to service everything and everyone around us.”

A MUM says she has been left housebound because her 48J boobs won't stop growing.
Fiona Hornby, from Bolton, watched in horror as her C-cup chest grew during puberty - leaving her breasts covered in painful sores, spots and purple rashes.
The 25-year-old can't stand up for more than five minutes at a time because of her crippling back pain, meaning she's trapped in her house, and struggles to find clothes which fit her.
Fiona, a payroll clerk, said: "My huge breasts have ruined my life. They have affected everything.
"My self-esteem has hit rock bottom, I can't find any clothes that fit and can't wear the same things as people my age.
"I have terrible back pains caused by the weight of my breasts. I can't hoover or sleep properly.
"If I do washing up I have to take a break halfway through because the pain is terrible.
"I find it difficult to go out in public because people think I've got big boobs because I look fat. Some people have even asked if I have had a boob job as they're that large."
Fiona was diagnosed with a condition called macromastia, which causes abnormal enlargement of the breast tissue, in 2015.
She said: "Everything I wore put my boobs on show. When I was still in primary school I was a C-cup.
"I'd be called a 'slag' because it always looked like I was trying to show them off but I wasn't, I just wanted to wear the same things as other girls.
"The pain can be horrendous. I once got really terrified because I was getting in the bath and I looked down and my breasts were purple.
"People say 'I wish could swap with you' but I say 'you don't,'.
"I once went to get a bra fitted and I went to the changing room and the lady in the fitting room turned to me and said 'we don't do your size'. It was very, very upsetting."
The intense pain means Fiona barely sleeps and can't go to the gym anymore.
She said: "When I'm in bed it's like I'm suffocating. I can't lie on my front because they're too heavy.
"It's like having a huge weight on my chest. Getting to sleep can be a real struggle sometimes.
"In 2013 I used to go to the gym and I weighed just seven-and-a-half stone but since my bust has continued to grow it has been impossible to work out.
"My boobs just didn't stop growing and just got bigger and bigger and droopier and droopier.
"If I wanted to wear something the same size as other girls I'd have to get it at least five sizes up so the clothes would at least fit.
"I used to work in retail but I can't stand up for long periods of time now so I need to have a desk job. If I go on a 25-minute walk, I'm just in absolute agony.
"I want people to understand how hard it's been, I've put weight on because I can't move properly because my boobs are so large. It's a vicious circle."
Fiona welcomed her first son William in November and says she struggles to care for her newborn because of her boobs.
She's desperate to have life-changing breast reduction surgery but claims she has been told she can't get it on the NHS, so she's raising £5,500 for a private op instead.
She said: "I can't hold my baby close to me because my boobs are so big I can't even see him and he could suffocate.
"I wasn't able to breastfeed him as a baby. I was terrified I was going to suffocate him because I couldn't hold him properly because i was having to hold my boobs. I couldn't even see his face.
"If I had the operation I'd feel like a new person. I'd be starting life again, I'd be able to go shopping for blouses and clothes I've not been able to wear.
"I've considered moving to have the surgery because it seems like there's no other option.
"Having the surgery will give me the ability to live normally."
A spokesman for NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group said they were unable to comment on individual cases.

Anastasia Berthier used to be embarrassed about her large chest but has now learned to love her body and her "cute face"
A woman who says Mother Nature was "generous" by giving her natural 34KK boobs has shared some of the disturbing messages she gets from strangers online.
Despite having back pain and struggling to find clothes that fit, Anastasia Berthier loves her large chest.
She said: “I haven’t done any surgeries on my breast. Mother Nature was pretty generous to me.
“As a teenager I used to be embarrassed of my big breasts.
“At the age of 15 I was already a D cup. But when I grew up, I learned how to accept myself and my body and even benefit from it.
“There aren’t many women in the world who have my natural breast size, a fit body and cute face, so why I should be not happy?
“However, it’s hard to find lingerie for my size. Some stores cater to my breast size, which is often the biggest size they have in stock, but not for all types of lingerie.
“I have to buy clothes in really big sizes then go and customise it with a tailor to fit, because I have a small waist compared to my breasts.”
“I do have back pain if I stand or sit in the same position for too long, but daily activities are fine and it does not bother me at all to do sports with the right sports bra. And yes, I can sleep on my stomach.”
But her large size does attract a lot of negative attention online, and on occasion it can actually be quite scary for Anastasia, who lives in Moscow, Russia.
She has faced repeated harassment from an online stalker for years, who has also disturbed her friends, family and even photographers she’s worked with in hopes to reach out her.
And one of her followers threatened to slit his wrists open if she didn’t reply back to his messages.
Anastasia said: “One crazy guy was threatening me that he will go to the kitchen and cut his veins if I will not answer.
“And I have crazy stalker who is following me for a few years, annoying my family, friends and photographers with who I work.
“There is a lot of pretty ill people and it's can be dangerous when they obsessed with you.”
Despite that, Anastasia loves her fans and said they constantly inspire her to create new content to share to the world.
She added: “I do have a lot of admirers and I really love my fans, they are such an inspiration for me! They give me a lot of support and ideas!
“My favourite comments are from women. When a woman gives you a compliment it’s always a big pleasure, but it’s very rare. Also, I love when followers appreciate my philosophy or my life advice.”
Anastasia now works as a model, but before that was a graphic designer and content writer for online magazine. She's also a painter and would often be commissioned for her pieces.
But this didn't pay well, and she was often left with no money at all by the end of the month.
She said: "Sometimes I didn’t have enough money to survive until end of the month so I accepted dinner dates just to eat!”
However, not everyone has been supportive of her career change.
Anastasia stopped speaking to some of her family members who she claims spread rumours about her behind her back, but thankfully, her mother and friends are incredibly supportive and always on her side.
She added: “I stop talking with some members of my family because they were spreading rumours and talking bad things behind my back.
“My friends are the opposite are super supportive and always on my side. My mom is my best friend!”
Anastasia started her Instagram page in 2018 as a professional account for her art work but soon started including pictures of her modelling, gaining over 510K followers in just two years.
Speaking about how her account blew up, Anastasia said: “I didn't really do anything special, I just started to understand what kind of content will get more engagement and will become more viral.
“So, when big Instagram groups started to repost my pictures, my page started to grow fast.
“Instagram blocked my main account for 6 months last year so I created new one and it almost reached half million already, meanwhile Instagram unblocked my main page and it's also half million now.
In a few words of advice for others who wish to grow their own social media pages, Anastasia said: “Be yourself and keep going. Don't listen to haters. Try to be creative and maintain your standards of quality.”
