Hubei declaration of independence 

A disease from Wuhan, 

makes fear spread around the world; to comfort the people and punish the wicked, 

we must revolt for Wuhan!

On the 1st of January, 2020, the Wuhan police force prosecuted 8 doctors ”according to the law” who had disclosed information on the internet about the appearance of patients who were infected by a coronavirus similar to SARS. After that, the Hubei authorities repeatedly understated the seriousness of the disease and repeatedly denied the fact that human-to-human transmission had happened long ago. Due to this, most of the Wuhan residents were totally unprepared when they suddenly got noticed on the 23rd of January that Wuhan municipal was locked down. The novel coronavirus, therefore, spread along with unaware Wuhan residents preparing for the Chinese New Year traveling out of Wuhan into the whole province, the whole country, and to the whole world. 

Today, millions of Wuhan residents are confirmed to be infected. Up to ten millions of them are stuck at home with insufficient food. Countless Wuhan companies were bankrupt all of a sudden. Many Wuhan families broke and are in a mess. Numerous tourists from Wuhan got surrounded, barricaded, insulted, and beaten up around the world. On the 27th of January, the mayor of Wuhan, Mr. Chow Sin Wong publicly admitted that regarding the outbreak of the new coronavirus disease, ”as a local government”, he could only disclose information after he got reports about it and was authorized to do so. On the 28th of January, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China, Mr. Xi Jin Ping, said, “I have always been directing the control and prevention work of the plague myself and deploying the work myself.” This shows that the reason behind this disaster that raged around the whole world is not simply a mistake by people, but, instead, has a clear source. The domineering officials engaged in corruption and made mistakes. But instead of them bearing the consequences of what they have done, we, the Wuhan people, have to suffer and take the blame for them!

The whole incident was started by the officials making false reports and suppressing the eight doctors that knew the truth, which made things getting out of control and ended up locking down the city hastily. The depletion of protective equipment and gears afterwards, the monopoly of donated resources by the Red Cross and malpractices of charity organizations. The source of all these frustrations, abuses and chaos is the non-democratically elected government and the lack of freedom of speech. The power, authorities comes from the top and higher classes. Therefore, officials would use all their ability to butter up their boss, all their energy to fight for position and power, yet never care about the life or interests of the people. Instead, when the people have objections, oppositions towards the officials, they would convict the people on the charge of “quarrels and provoking troubles” or “irresponsible remarks” and “handle them according to the law”. All these are like the Qing dynasty described by Mr. Sun Yat-sen hundred years ago, “meetings are prohibited, words and speeches can become a crime, even whispers between two can lead to a death penalty. The freedom of assembly, the freedom of the press and the freedom of thoughts are all restricted, and deprived.” And all these are like what described in the editorial from the communist's party of China on Xinhua newspaper, “under the single-party state, there is disaster everywhere.” Under the domination of a system for over 70 years with a non-democratically elected government and without the freedom of speech, the once beautiful land has to go through disasters and chaos one after another.

We, the people of Wuhan, have always been just, straightforward and chivalrous. When have we ever been oppressed and bullied like what we have experienced nowadays? Our ancestors have overthrown the government one hundred and eight years ago. And here, Wuhan is where they first talked and planned about the revolution. 

Today, on the 2nd of February 2020, we, a group of fearless Wuhan people, are going to imitate our forerunners in the Xinhai revolution, Wuchang uprising, and recapture our rights and reshape our country as a republic. We solemnly declare that the Wuhan interim government is established and we are here to announce the independence of Wuhan and Hubei.

Recently, some Wuhan netizens posted the five demands for “the revolution of our times, Liberate Wuhan!”:

Five demands not one less

 1. Apologies from the police force to the eight citizens who have been summoned.

 2. Hold the officials who concealed information about the disease to account according to the law.

 3. Allow freedom of speech. Stop deleting people’s posts, and banning and suspending accounts.

 4. Lift the ban on rescue. There must not be monopolies controlling charity resources.

 5. Modify the constitution and the president should be democratically elected.

 The Wuhan interim government totally agrees with and accepts all the five demands suggested. But clearly, the original government under the single-party system absolutely wouldn’t accept these five demands, like the Hong Kong government which still refused to consider the five demands suggested by the Hong Kong citizens.
