Located in historic New Market, Vintage has reopened under new management with the elevated southern comfort food and warm hospitality you know and love.
Vintage has true 'Old School' roots...
Our restaurant has truly historic bones; our building has had various incarnations as a general store, hotel, and the much beloved Mealey's , and was once a mainstay on the National Pike - the conduit for the original American migration West. Now, Vintage delivers warm hospitality in a casual, chic space that we know you'll love as much as we do. Vintage is a community gathering place for friends and a destination dining spot for travelers, with a little taste of Maryland for everyone’s palates.

Vintage BMW friends, let’s try this again! Registration for The Vintage 2021 is open!
Despite our valiant efforts to find a suitable and safe venue we’ve decided to reschedule The Vintage to May 2021 September 2021. Please check out our Facebook page here for the most up to date info.
The Vintage has been rescheduled to May 2021
IMPORTANT UPDATE!! (From Scott’s Facebook post)
With North Carolina still in ‘Phase 2″, that means the possibility for an outdoor event in NC is now impossible. THE GOOD NEWS , I met with the BMW plant in Greer, SC and they have come to the rescue and offered up space to have The Vintage 2020 on Oct. 24th! South Carolina is giving exceptions for outdoor events that can conform to their current guidelines (social distancing, masks, etc) . I just have to submit a special form to the SC Department of Commerce.
So we are a “GO”.The venue only has room for about 500 cars , plus sponsor tents, vendors, and food trucks, so I have put a cap on registration and there are only a few spots left. BUT if it is full, register to be on the waitlist, that way if someone cancels, you will be next in line. Find a link to registration here .
If you have hotel reservations at The Clarion , Fairfield, or other hotels near the Clarion in Fletcher, NC , do not cancel them. At this time we are still planning on Friday evening registration in that area. If you had hotel reservations near Mountain Air in Burnsville, you will need to cancel those. I will hopefully have some suggested hotels near the new venue at the BMW plant in Greer, SC soon.Stay tuned for more info.(p.s., you won’t believe the efforts that friends of this event are going through to make this happen….truly amazing folks)
For more info please join our Facebook group as more up to the minute discussion going on there.
EDIT:: Please see the post above for new updates about venue changes.

Guten Tag Y’all,Well, all this Corona stuff has forced me to reschedule The Vintage 2020. OK, that’s all for the bad news, now the good news.New dates are: October 22-25, 2020. It doesn’t get any better than Fall in the Appalachian mountains. In fact “leaf-lookers” flock to the area each Autumn to take in the beautiful weather and fall color. EDIT:: Venue information in updated post above. Stay tuned for more updates. -Scott Sturdy – festmeister

2019 will be the year of 5er celebration at The Vintage! E12s, E28s and E34s will be parked together in the grove area on the west side of the event venue. We’ll have more 5er related news as the event dates draw nearer. We had lots of great feedback from the last couple years when we focused on specific models (E3s in 2017, 2002s in 2018) and had them parked together. This year we’ll focus on Fives so bring ’em out!
The Vintage 2019 will be happening on May 16th – 19th. Hot Springs will again host us on Saturday and the Clarion Inn Asheville Airport in Fletcher will again be the main event hotel. We’re still working out details for the event schedule and registration will open in early 2019.

By the 1930s, necklines plunged at the back, sleeves disappeared and sides were cut away and tightened. With the development of new clothing materials, particularly latex and nylon, through the 1930s swimsuits gradually began hugging the body, with shoulder straps that could be lowered for tanning.
Men were allowed to swim in bare-chest suits in 1936, and in briefs only at the 1948 Olympics. Take a look at these vintage photos from Steve Given to see what swimwear looked like in the 1930s.
Reagan appeared in this Van Heusen campaign in 1953, and in January 1981, the company re-ran the ad with a celebratory message in Time , Newsweek , and People magazines to congratulate Reagan on the eve of his first inauguration. Then, in 1985, Andy Warhol used this same ad as a basis for his screenprint “Van Heusen (Ronald Reagan)” in his “Ads” series.
This advertisement appeared in 1961 when Reagan was still presenting General Electric Theater , which he hosted the show until the following year. With Reagan at the helm, GE Theater had become a top-10 show in the Nielsen ratings between 1956-58, and celebrities like Fred Astaire, Bette Davis, Judy Garland, and the Marx Brothers all made guest-star appearances.
After his brother, Neil, a two- or three-packs-a-day cigarette smoker, developed laryngeal cancer in the 1960s, Reagan quit smoking his pipe and picked up a Jelly Belly habit instead.

An even bigger stage was specially designed for the two Wembley Stadium shows. But the crew hit some roadblock upon discovering the architect’s plans for the stadium were wrong (they were four feet out). The stage had to be redesigned, and it was finally finished just before soundcheck was due to start. Queen were one of the first bands to use a Jumbotron screen at a rock concert. Nine miles of cable were utilized for the shows.
In response to the Queen break-up rumors, Freddie said: “I can tell you straight from my bowels that we’re not gonna do it.”
“The Wembley concerts in 1986 were the pinnacle for us,” Brian May said years later. “We were at our height band-wise, and Freddie had developed this phenomenal way of dealing with stadium audiences. Being back home in London playing two sell-out nights was such a big, big occasion for us. None of us realized that this would be almost the last time we’d play together [live].”
Following the tour, Mercury told his bandmates that he did not want to do any more large-scale shows. In spring 1987, he was diagnosed as having AIDS. When the group reconvened to record The Miracle in 1989, the press were informed that Mercury wanted to “break the cycle of album, tour, album, tour” and consequently the album would not have any accompanying live performances. He died on November 24, 1991. Queen did not undertake another full tour until 19 years later, when the Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour began in March 2005. By then, John Deacon had retired from music, and did not take part.
Arlen is best known for his role as a pilot in the Academy Award-winning Wings (1927) with Clara Bow, Charles ‘Buddy’ Rogers, Gary Cooper, El Brendel, and his second wife, Jobyna Ralston, whom he married in 1927.
In the 1950s and early 1960s, Arlen was active in television, having guest starred in several anthology series, including Playhouse 90 , The Loretta Young Show , The 20th Century Fox Hour , and in three episodes of the series about clergymen, Crossroads .
In 1960, Arlen was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame with a motion pictures star at 6755 Hollywood Boulevard for his contributions to the film industry. He died in 1976 in North Hollywood, California, aged 76. Take a look at these vintage photos to see portraits of a young and handsome Richard Arlen in the 1920s and 1930s.
On coming in contact with a fallen pedestrian it tends to roll him ahead till the truck can be brought to a stop. Ordinarily, it projects out in front of the car, serving as a bumper, but is released immediately by the driver when there is a possibility of an accident.
In March 2016, Jaguar announced that it would be completing the original 25 car order by hand-building the remaining nine XKSS roadsters to the exact original specification, and assigning them the chassis numbers of the destroyed cars. The “continuation” reproductions were expected to sell for more than £1 million each.
Here is a set of beautiful photos of the Jaguar XKSS.
