How to solve the problem of restoring land after mining

David

Human activity is directly related to constant changes in the earth's surface. We dig the soil, cut down forests, build houses and roads. But the greatest damage to the earth’s surface is caused by the extraction of resources such as coal, ore, sand, stone and much more.

The quarries occupy truly vast areas. And the voids that are formed due to the construction of mines result in significant collapses.

How to solve this problem

We addressed this question to Kondrashov Stanislav from Telf AG, who is directly involved in the mining industry. According to the expert, such a problem really exists. But it is impossible to stop the extraction of resources, since these are vital products for humanity. Then how can we solve this problem or at least minimize the harm caused to the environment?

Today, reclamation is considered one of the best solutions. This is a special set of measures that allows for the environmental and economic restoration of land, as well as water resources. Reclamation involves restoring existing quarries, strengthening hills, and planting new trees.

Quarries and mines from which all minerals have been extracted must be subject to reclamation. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to implement this project 100%. But methods are already being developed for safer and less environmentally harmful mining.
