How to send Toncoin to other blockchain networks

The Open Network

This guide will tell you how you can send Toncoin from the TON blockchain to either Ethereum or BNB Chain by using cross-chain bridges.

Cross-chain bridges

The TON ecosystem has two cross-chain bridges: TON–Ethereum and TON–BNB Chain. Bridges are channels connecting blockchains where Toncoin holders can transfer their coins to and from different networks.

Before starting, we recommend installing the TON Wallet extension in the Google Chrome browser. This is not necessary, but it simplifies the process.

  1. Go to the bridge’s web page at https://ton.org/bridge and select one of the available bridges. For this guide, we’ll use the TON–BNB Chain bridge:

2. You need a crypto wallet that supports BNB Chain. We recommend using MetaMask. Once you’ve downloaded the wallet, you can follow this guide on how to connect it to BNB Chain.

Make sure you’re connected to BNB Chain, after which scan your wallet’s address:

3. Enter the amount of Toncoin you want to send to BNB Chain and paste your MetaMask wallet address:

Please note:

  • The bridge charges a commission fee of 5 TON + 0.25% of the transferred amount. You must also have at least a small amount of BNB token in your MetaMask wallet to pay for the transaction fee on the BNB Chain network.

You can buy BNB on the Binance peer-to-peer crypto exchange worth $2–$3, which will be enough for about 10 transactions.

4. Click “Transfer” and copy the bridge’s smart contract address:

Important: You have to copy the entire address.

If you’re using the Chrome plug-in, you will not need to copy anything. Click on the link, and the bridge will automatically connect with the TON Wallet extension.

If you prefer using a mobile crypto wallet:

5. Go to either your Tonkeeper or Toncoin Wallet and send the amount of Toncoin to the copy-pasted address. Only use your personal wallet:

Important: If you’ve copied and pasted the address properly, the “note” will automatically appear in the “Message” field. You’ve incorrectly entered the address if there’s no “note” in the “Message” field.

6. Wait for all oracles to confirm and click “Get Toncoin.”

Important: Do not close your browser. You must click on “Get Toncoin” to complete the transaction successfully.

7. Everything’s ready. Confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet, and in a few minutes, Wrapped Toncoin BEP-20 (the token standard of BNB Chain) will be added to your balance in your wallet.

Now, you can use these coins on BNB Chain — e.g., add them to a farming pool on decentralized exchange Biswap with the help of this guide.

2. Enter the amount of Toncoin you’d like to send, add your Toncoin wallet address, and click “Transfer.” Your MetaMask wallet should automatically open.

3. Confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet. The confirmation from the bridge’s oracles may take some time, but you must wait for it, nonetheless. You can close the page, and the Toncoin will be added to your balance in your wallet.

There is practically no difference when using a cross-chain bridge to send Toncoin to the Ethereum network, except for two moments:

  1. Remember to switch to the Ethereum network in your MetaMask wallet.

2. Instead of BNB to pay for the transaction fee, you’ll now need ETH in your wallet.
