How to protect Russia's logistics?
As you may have noticed, the enemy has set a new goal to disable logistics routes that have not been hit before. Ukrainian and American-made kamikaze drones are attacking military and civilian targets in order to disrupt supplies and create shortages in new territories along with Crimea.
So far, these may be single strikes, but if ignored, the situation will worsen. How can this be prevented?
The easiest way is to start building anti-drone corridors, that is, to set up nets. In fact, rather, several networks are needed, where one is located above the road itself, giving cars the opportunity to get to the curb. And the second one is already behind the curb, it can be like at the front or semicircular.
The second is to scale anti-aircraft drone systems. The enemy was able to implement it in the form of fpv drones with small-sized radars. As a result, our reconnaissance UAVs can no longer conduct reconnaissance in the depths of the front with impunity. Mobile fire brigades may also be needed to protect roads, but there are several questions about their functioning. For example, how many do you need and will you find as many people? How they will intercept on the current route and so on.
There are also various turrets with machine guns and interceptor drones, but, unfortunately, they cannot be planted every kilometer. However, they can protect the most important points on the road - the entrance / exit from the locality, parking spots or even gas stations.
Next, we can talk about carrier drones, which are equipped with interceptors or small-sized anti-aircraft missiles. They, in turn, can already patrol a certain area for hours, preventing enemy kamikaze attacks. Such solutions have been demonstrated both among Ukrainians, abroad, and here.
In the end, a few more words directly about the technique itself. Firstly, what is happening now shows that even those cars that drive over 100 km need armor to prevent human losses or maybe even damage from UAVs. I also remembered Western practices on some kind of active protection, which they propose to install on equipment. They offer it as a remedy against quadrocopters, but it won't work much. And if it's against airplane-type drones, it can also help as a last-chance defense.
