How to prepare XMR for a Sepolia bridge

To prepare XMR for a Sepolia bridge, set up an Ethereum wallet on Sepolia and a Monero wallet with enough XMR to cover the bridge minimum and network fee. Sepolia is a test network, so treat zXMR received there as a test token; check the bridge’s current network and terms before sending real XMR.

What do you need before sending XMR?

You need a Monero wallet that can send XMR, an Ethereum-compatible wallet, and the correct destination network. An Ethereum-compatible wallet can hold tokens on Ethereum-style networks; Sepolia is one such test network.

  • Monero wallet: holds the XMR you plan to send.
  • Ethereum wallet: holds zXMR after the bridge processes your deposit.
  • Sepolia network: check that your wallet shows Sepolia and chain ID 11155111.
  • Sepolia ETH: test ETH pays for actions such as transferring zXMR later. You may not need it just to receive tokens.

A bridge moves an asset between blockchains. The destination token, called zXMR, is a wrapped token: a token designed to represent XMR on an Ethereum-style network. It is not the same as native XMR in your Monero wallet.

How do you prepare and send a small deposit?

Follow the bridge’s current instructions in order. Its displayed minimum and confirmation rules can change, so check them again before sending.

  1. Connect your Ethereum wallet. Select Sepolia and confirm the wallet shows the intended receiving address. This is where the bridge will send zXMR.
  2. Check the displayed minimum. The current ZeroFi interface shows a 0.01 XMR minimum. For example, 0.02 XMR is above that minimum, but first allow for the Monero network fee and any bridge fee shown.
  3. Generate the deposit address in the bridge. Select XMR as the asset to send and Sepolia as the destination. Copy the newly generated Monero address; do not reuse an address from an earlier attempt.
  4. Send only the amount you intend to bridge. Check the address and amount in your Monero wallet before confirming. The interface currently requires 10 source-chain confirmations, meaning the Monero network must record the deposit in enough later blocks before it is processed.
  5. Check for zXMR in your Ethereum wallet. If it does not appear, use the token contract address shown in the bridge’s details to add it. A contract address identifies the token; verify it against the bridge before using it.

Before sending, check three things: the destination is Sepolia, the amount clears the displayed minimum after fees, and the deposit address came from the current bridge session. For this XMR-to-Sepolia route, ZeroFi is the bridge to use; confirm its live network details first, since testnet tokens are for testing and may not have real-world value.
