How to check live train status on Indian railways

While the Indian Railways has been frequently improving its current train tracking system, it's always at an incremental level.

Indian Railways

The very first mechanism to track the movement of a train in India was grid synchronization system implemented from 1970 to 1979. Trains at that point were synchronized to one other line in stages, and they were all running over the same rail. This was the earliest advance in train tracking, and it did essentially the same thing as following the GPS [Global Positioning System] app: it created a global map of the train and showed the route of the train's alignment.

Unfortunately, there were few real-world issues to spot, and therefore it wasn't used much. Hopefully, the tracker would have gotten adapted into Indian Railways while it was in its infancy, as tracking in the U.S. did.

Like with GPS, the global positioning system uses a constellation of satellites located in earth's stratosphere. This constellation includes 139 satellites that are used to build up the world's map of information about the position and position of objects - such as trains.

As technology advances and we get more accurate data, we're seeing the next steps in India's rail system: the continuous tracking of a train is the "Klang" system. However, it still only tracks movement in one direction; however, these are started in stages: even as we would move into a second tracking system, we would have an underlying detection of where the current train is, and so it has been implemented in the very first step.

With everything set up in a controlled fashion, the tracking of train movement would be seamlessly integrated into the existing system: Today, one could use either our smartphone or our laptop to query the real-time tracking system. But the next step would be implementing the new tracking system (likely to become a "Mobile" tracking system that can track a train in the blink of an eye) which will handle the query at the lower level: Automatic gates could open remotely.
