How to Use Endo Motor in RCT?

One of the primary tools for an easy and effective dental practice is using the right equipment. Endo motors are used across multiple practices of dentistry like RCT and make the experience comfortable for the patient, and smooth for the dentist. For this purpose, it is imperative to invest in a good endo motor. Endo motors are effectively used to perform rotary endodontics for RCTs, i.e., Root Canal Treatments.

Endo-Motor

To use an endo motor for root canal treatment, push the contra-angle head safely into the Endomax unit, and when needing to remove it, pull it gently to detach it from the handpiece. To change the root canal file, the catch is opened by pushing it sideways. To insert the root canal instrument, put it into the head of the contra-angle. Then continue to turn it until the instrument engages. After checking that the file is in, close the latch in a locked position. After that, turn on the charging station switch located on the back of the unit. It is imperative to fully charge the battery before the first use. To turn on the handpiece, press the ON button. And to select the different ENDO functions: press and handhold the MODE button.

For reverse rotation, press the mode selection button during the operation whenever users want the file to be pulled out. The Mode Selection button cycles three different endodontic functions: Auto-Reverse Forward, Reciprocating Mode and Auto-Reverse Stop.

The traditional process of performing root canals is the hand-filling process. However, using advanced technology, endo motors save the time of the dental procedure. Good endo motors can reduce chair time by more than fifty per cent. This means that both the dentists and the patients would have less fatigue. And the chair time costs would be reduced significantly. Endo motors use rotary endodontics to perform the root canal treatment faster. They help the dentist in having an efficient practice and make it possible to complete the Root Canal Cleaning and Obturation in a single sitting. Therefore, with only one dose of the local anaesthetic given by the dentist, the procedure can be performed. This makes the experience smooth for both the dentist as well as the patient. Since the procedure can be completed in only one session, time is saved for both the patient as well as the dentist.

Endo motors also help to save costs. While the cost of the engine is higher as compared to hand files, endo motors significantly reduce the cost of treatment because they decrease the chair time. They also help the dentists to treat more patients by reducing the time taken by multiple sessions of manual hand filling.

Endo motors are microprocessor controlled. They have auto-torque and auto-reverse options. These features make it easy to measure torque levels ranging between three mNm to fifty-two mNm. They provide speeds up to 600 rpm.

These endo motors can observe the torque on the file. This means that according to the mode selected, when the pressure or torque on the file is greater than the threshold pressure or torque, then the motor would stop or reverse. The feature by which endo motors produce reverse motion is called Auto Reverse. Given that the file reverses in motion, it is free from the tooth. Therefore, it is easy for a file separation to be avoided or prevented.

Using these easy steps, the endo motors can be efficiently and effectively used during RTC. This makes the process easy for the dentists and comfortable for the patients.
