How to Setup Canon Printer Wirelessly

How to Setup Canon Printer Wirelessly

I had a lot of trouble installing my new wireless printer. It's an edition 3500 from Canon. According to the simple installation instructions, the printer ought to have been automatically added to the router (bypassing security by pressing the button for temporary access within the router's control box). I tried this 10-15 times with zero success. Then I decided to look up the tiny print. I finally worked it. The issue seems to be the security of the router (aka "access point") security

.

My method was this:

1.) switch off the security of your router. If everything is fine, you'll be able to switch it back on within a couple of minutes.

2.) change the name of your access point to BJNPSETUP. Why? It is the primary SSID that the printer is searching for. In the default state, the printer will eliminate the other SSID it encounters.

3.) Follow the easy setup instructions provided by Canon. Follow the quick setup instructions provided by Canon: press the wi-fi switch on the printer until the red light flashes once, and then release. Then, press the button for temporary access for your router. In a matter of seconds, your printer will have been allocated an IP.

4.) Find the IP that has been associated with your printer or by checking your router or by applying a "push to stop for fifteen flashes then let go"-method. This method prints the IP on a sheet of paper.

5.) Open the IP in your browser. This address can be found at HTTP www. ip that you discovered>. It's where the Remote UI opens. From here, you can control google cloud print, AirPrint and name the printer and more.

6.) Turn security back on using the following steps: A) enter the desired SSID and password on the remote UI (which you have opened in the earlier step). B) change the name of your router using the identical SSID and then C) switch security on your router.

Wow, it's more difficult than I imagined. I spent hours trying to figure this out. The instruction manual offered to me by Canon did not provide the technical details and stayed at the view from the helicopter. I put the pieces together with the help of common sense. Dear Canon, I am grateful to you for wasting three hours of my time.

Once the printer is up and running, it performs like a dream. I print on every device within the home with Google Cloud Print. There is no hassle once I have it installed! DEAR Canon, you appear to manufacture kick-ass printers, but seriously, you'll need to attend an evening class on how to create manuals.

In addition, the strategy that was described earlier is non-confrontational with driver and setup software. Canon only has setup canon ip110 software for Windows and Mac. This leaves out the majority of people using Linux Chrome OS, Linux, and so on. The above setup will work across all boards.
