How to Rearrange Instagram Carousel Photos After Posting
monilEver published an Instagram carousel and then realized the slides would make more sense in a different order?
Maybe the photo you wanted as the cover ended up in the middle, or two slides would work better if you switched them around. It can be frustrating to notice this after the post is already live, especially when it has already received likes and comments.
The good news is that you don't have to delete the post and upload everything again.
How to Rearrange an Instagram Carousel
Instagram lets you change the order of photos and videos in a carousel after publishing.
Open the carousel from your Instagram profile, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, and select Edit.
Press and hold the photo or video you want to move, then drag it to the position where you want it to appear. You can repeat this with the other slides until the carousel has the order you want.
When you're happy with the new order, tap Done to save the changes.
Your original post stays on your profile, so you don't have to start over or lose the engagement you've already received.
Can You Add New Photos to an Existing Carousel?
There's one limitation to keep in mind: rearranging only works with the photos and videos that are already part of the carousel.
If you forgot to include a photo or video, you can't simply add it while rearranging the existing slides. In that case, you'll need to create a new post.
Keep Your Instagram Content Organized
If you're regularly creating Instagram content, keeping useful photos and videos organized can make planning future posts much easier. Pinterest can be useful for collecting visual ideas and references, while Link Downloader can be handy when you need to save Instagram content and come back to it later.
A carousel doesn't always need to be rebuilt from scratch. Sometimes, simply changing the order of the slides is enough to make the whole post clearer and easier to follow.
