How to Make JetBlue Airlines Check In a Breeze

Richard Wilson

JetBlue Airlines has built itself on the premise of getting you where you need to go quickly and effortlessly, and their JetBlue flight check in process is no exception. The airline’s online check-in process allows you to print your boarding pass at home, skip the long lines at the airport, and take care of your luggage all before you ever step foot in the terminal. Here’s how to do it right!

Online check in

Online check-in is one of those time-saving wonders that makes frequent flying just a little bit easier. I know it’s possible to complete an entire trip without ever having to stand in line at an airport kiosk, but I also know I wouldn’t do it if my life depended on it. The thing is, you only really need to deal with JetBlue Airways check in JetBlue flight when you fly with them more than once or twice per year, and then only if you like being put into seats that are otherwise empty anyway. And while they keep moving more features over from their desktop system (like Web check-in) it still lacks some of what other airlines provide as standard fare.

Bringing on a carry-on bag

I’m not sure about you, but I hate waiting in line at airports. Even if I arrive two hours early for my JetBlue book a flight, there’s bound to be long lines at security checkpoints and check-in kiosks. But thanks to JetBlue Airways, things have changed at least JetBlue flight to New York City area airports. The airline is piloting a new program called Ready-to-Go that allows passengers to JetBlue check in their luggage before they arrive at JFK or LaGuardia, simply by having all of their travel documents on hand and swiping their credit card through one of several kiosks located near Jet blue baggage claim.

Bring all personal items on board with you

One way to streamline your check-in process is by bringing everything you need on board with you, instead of handing off items that aren't needed until after takeoff. For example, don't wait until landing to collect magazines and newspapers; if they're not in your Jet blue carry on bag, they can be left at home. If you forget something (again!), look for it at Hudson News or ask someone at Gate 28B - JetBlue Airways sells almost every type of item imaginable in their New York City airport kiosks!

Be mindful of how you act at the airport

Airports are not always quiet and empty places; there is always some sort of hustle and bustle. Whether it’s boarding time, JetBlue check in baggage claim, or security lines, people are rushing around—which can make you feel rushed as well. To avoid feeling like everything is happening too quickly, just remember that it’s all very much an illusion. Nobody is in any more of a hurry than you are; they may just be looking like they are because they have somewhere important to be. Take your time during check-in at JetBlue airlines because speed means nothing when you’re waiting in line—you could miss your JetBlue book flight! Simply relax, be mindful of how you act at the airport, and most importantly: enjoy yourself!

Ask questions if you don’t understand anything.

Employees at any airline can help you, but you should try to ask questions only of those who work for that airline. So, don’t worry if you see employees wearing two hats—you know they understand your issues as well as anyone. If it helps, have your frequent flyer number or JetBlue air reservations information on hand so you can double-check that what you’re hearing is true and correct. It also doesn’t hurt to JetBlue flight check in online before heading to the airport; if something has changed from what was originally planned, there are ways of handling it ahead of time. (JetBlue Airways has even created an app for checking in before you get to JetBlue baggage fees claim.) You may even be able to check in 24 hours before departure.

Relax and enjoy your flight

If you’re flying with JetBlue Airways, check in online at least 24 hours before your flight departs. When you get to security, they’ll print out your boarding pass and give you a receipt—the exact same thing you get when you check in JetBlue flight at an airport kiosk. Keep that receipt on hand because it has all of your flight information on it! So if anything changes while you’re en route, just show that receipt at one of their customer service JetBlue Booths (located throughout every terminal) and they can issue a new boarding pass for free! JetBlue plane makes travel simple by keeping passengers relaxed from beginning to end.
