How to Get Clear Skin Fast: 10 Easy Tips For Healthier Skin Overnight

Dr Niketa Sonavane, Dermatologist, Mumbai, India.

A good night's sleep has never been more important than in the weeks and days before your wedding. Not only is a good eight hours of sleep essential for your health, but it can also provide some overnight skincare benefits for your skin. Need another reason to get into the habit of going to bed at a reasonable hour? While your body is resting, you can maximize your skincare regimen with a slew of treatments and hacks to get gorgeous skin.

1. Put on a clean face before going to bed.

It all starts with the basics, and cleansed skin is the foundation of great skin. Use a cream-to-oil cleanser to cleanse your face. Exfoliating cleansers can strip the skin's natural protective barrier, leaving it dull and dry. An oil based cleanser is gentle on the skin and leaves the skin's natural barrier intact and glowing.

2. Experiment with Apple Cider Vinegar.

One kitchen ingredient, believe it or not, can gently exfoliate even the most breakout-prone and sensitive skin without the need for a harsh scrub or a chemical peel. Raw apple cider vinegar is excellent for all skin types, but it is especially beneficial for acne sufferers. It exfoliates, balances the skin, and helps to calm and heal breakouts quickly. Using a cotton pad, apply a small amount all over your face as you would a toner.

Because it is not acidic, it is very gentle. Leave it on your skin overnight and it will make your skin look better in the morning; however, I would caution people that the smell is not for everyone!

3. Apply a Sheet Mask Before Going to Bed

Sheet masks are great for hydrating skin as well as taking great Instagram selfies. So, before you apply your evening skincare products, pamper your skin with a generous dose of extra moisture. It improves our skin's ability to retain moisture. As a result, A more luminous and dewy appearance.

4. Limit your intake of salty foods in the evening.

This is especially true during the nights preceding the big day. If we're talking about the night before the event or party, it's best to avoid highly salty foods because they can cause puffiness. Puffiness under the eyes, in particular, can give the appearance of dark circles and being tired. According to him, a caffeine de-puffing gel can help reduce swelling.

5. You Shouldn't Be Afraid of Oils

If you're still skeptical about using facial oils, consider this one more reason to go for it. Oils protect the skin's outer layer and are high in antioxidants, which help to prevent DNA damage. For best results, apply an oil before your night cream. Non-comedogenic oils should be used. My favourites include those containing argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, or CBD oil.

6. Don't Skimp on Vitamin C, Particularly Around the Eyes

Vitamin C is one of the most important ingredients in achieving glowing skin. The super ingredient eliminates dark spots and improves skin tone, revealing beautifully glowing skin, which everyone wants. Apply it to the eye area and massage it in for a double dose of great skin. From your temples to the inner corners of your eyes, gently massage a brightening eye cream containing vitamin C or licorice root extract. The vitamin C acts as a dark circles treatment, and the outward massage improves lymphatic drainage, resulting in less morning under-eye puffiness.

7. Be hydrated

Dehydration is characterized by a lack of water in the skin. Dehydrated skin may appear inflamed, red or irritated, and when pinched, it may not bounce back or tent up in a wrinkly shape or fine lines. You don't need all of these; just one can lead to dehydration. If drinking water isn't appealing, green juices are a tasty alternative that hydrates and encourages lymphatic drainage to de-puff the skin, and chlorophyll has similar effects while also oxygenating the skin. Look for serums containing green ingredients to hydrate and oxygenate the skin, or plant oils to plump the skin, and apply upwards to stimulate circulation. Masks containing hyaluronic acid, yoghurt, or avocado oil can also help with dehydration.

Using a reusable bottle to track your water intake and set goals to finish it. Alternatively, use your phone to set reminders and keep a log.

8. Avoid popping pimples.

We may all be technically aware of this rule, but we'll be the first to admit that defying it can be incredibly satisfying. So, let's take a moment to go over why you should resist the urge to pick. You're not only exacerbating the inflammation, but you're also delaying healing and risking permanent scarring by digging your nails into the skin. Instead, use yoghurt as a spot treatment because the lactic acid and probiotics naturally calm and heal.

9. Remove Excess Oil

While a dewy complexion is desirable, oiliness does not always translate in the same lustrous manner. Blotting papers are a convenient tool for absorbing excess oil and instantly mattifying, but you should reconsider using them. They tell the skin to produce more oil, which is the inverse of what we want the skin to do when we feel shine. Instead, use a zinc-based translucent powder sunscreen to protect the skin. The zinc will help you achieve a matte finish without producing an excessive amount of oil.

10. Do Not Touch Your Face

Consider this skincare commandment to be the golden rule. Inflammation and breakouts can be caused by bacteria and dirt on the hands. I'd just avoid it at all costs. Regardless of how well-intentioned the manual attention, any contact with the skin can not only transmit irritating, sensitizing, or skin-clogging particles directly to the face, but it can also push them into the skin depending on how much pressure is applied. If you absolutely must touch your face, make sure your hands have been thoroughly cleaned.
