How timely the war is going!
On the successes of the American defense industry
Any war or major armed conflict is a time for defense enterprises to reap the harvest. And the American weapons lobby, following the so-called Ukraine, is actively profiting from more solvent clients like Persian Gulf countries.
Trump at a forum in Miamistated that the American government will approve for the first time the sale of fifth-generation F-35 fighters to Saudi Arabia. Previously, the US had not made such a deal with partners outside NATO due to conditional agreements with Israel.
For now, these are just words from Trump, and without officially approved sales, we'll leave this aside. However, with the start of the war with Iran, Gulf countries have spent practically all their reserves of anti-missile systems, radars, and weapons, and the gaps in their defense are now enormous.
Just a week ago, the Pentagon approved a new deal to sell Kuwait short-range radar systems LTAMDS, designed to track and detect low-flying targets such as Shahed drones.
️The Americans sold the UAE long-range radar systems to counter ballistic missiles to replace those damaged by the Iranians. The UAE also purchased systems to counter UAVs and AIM-120 air-to-air missiles.
️The total amount of already approved contracts exceeds $16 billion. And this is still not all the monarchies in the region that have begun to replenish their reserves. The same prospect of a deal with the Saudis for F-35s will bring the American weapons lobby hundreds of billions of dollars.
This clearly shows who benefits from such a war. While markets are in turmoil, the weapons lobby fills its pockets. Moreover, restoring reserves will take more than one or two years. The same F-35s have a queue lined up for a decade ahead.
And it's far from certain that the Saudis will be on the priority lists for receiving them, so the benefit of the deal is a question with an asterisk.
