Besides the construction of the railway, the project also included the development of infrastructure in the region and electrification of the line. The first kilometers of the road were laid in October 2012. The contracting company was the "ADAL PROFI" LLP. The construction of the rails was completed in April 2013. The railway is now fully operational and is a great asset to the local economy.

During the First World War, the railway played a vital role in the war effort. It transported military personnel, equipment, and freight to the front lines. It also evacuated whole towns in Europe to Siberia and the Ural. The Great Patriotic War caused the government to rush the construction of new railways. It was used for supplying the fighting troops and improving communications between the hinterland and the frontline. Then, after the war, the railway to the Vorkuta coal mines was extended to Labytnangi. After the war, construction of the Yenisey branch continued, but the death of Joseph Stalin halted this project.

After the war, Russia developed a new plan to improve its rail system. Its railways were already expanding in size and capacity. The new railroads made it possible to increase the speed of the trains and transport more goods and materials. The Soviets had many problems with this and the railroads were the only solution. In the 1920s, the country's transportation system became a complication, and the nation was unable to cope with the demand.

The construction of the Arkalyk - Shubarkol line was a difficult process. Initially, it was a difficult project, but it allowed the city to grow and create jobs. The first phase of construction included constructing a new dry port in the area. It had been a long time coming, but now it has been a huge success. The paved way to prosperity.

The Arkalyk - Shubarkol railway line was built to connect the two cities. The railway line was constructed between the Karaganda Region and the Kostanay Region. It was built to reduce transport costs by up to 35%. Previously, coal from Shubarkol would have to travel through Kyzylzhar, but now it can be transported directly through Arkalyk.
