It's only been ten months since Tom Gillis became senior vice president and general manager of VMware's network and security business, and in that time he oversaw some major changes to the company's core products. The latest is a major release of the company's NSX-T Data Center software, making it vmware nsx premier networking platform for organizations looking to support native cloud applications from multiple vendors, bare-metal, hybrid workloads and multi-cloud.

The Gillis group also launched a new firewall - the Service-defined Firewall - which, according to VMware, protects enterprise applications in data centers or clouds. There were other important additions, including an expanded relationship with AT&T around its SD-WAN offering. Building on his previous executive experiences, as general manager of security technology business at Cisco, CEO of Bracket Computing, vice president of marketing at IronPort Systems and others, Gillis is responsible for keeping Vmware directly ahead of the cloud , security and enterprise computing.
