How can you make use of Youtube to discover music that's trending, hot and popular across other countries?
It's an issue I've thought about for a while. Being a U.S. citizen, I have been deeply immersed in pop culture. Dua Lipa wearing slippers, Kanye West admiring his tinier wife. Pop culture is something that I enjoy and I am a fan of everyone who participates. I'd make a wonderful host in one of the Gossip & Hollywood Info-Talk shows. The hosts here share the intimates of Hollywood stars. They then switch to less known hosts before ending with flashbacks from the past such as sightings or starts that haven’t happened in a while. The news and gossips would be shared with love, passion, every word with passion, not like many present hosts who simply give a few details and don't even try to relate.
In this way, I am trying to incorporate more music from other countries in my library of music. To begin I'm beginning to determine what kind of songs are popular in other countries. I started with a few European monoliths like Germany, UK France Sweden Spain Portugal and so on. After hours of watching Youtube videos, I believed I was an expert and that it could give me all the information I needed. But, it wasn't so simple. Apparently all one can see is the hot and trending music of their region or their country at the most. I searched other websites to find the top 20 most watched Youtube videos in their respective countries. There were some that did. But the majority of them were outdated. Nobody wants to blog about the top 20 each week. This is for TV. You can also find hit-parades and similar stuff.
So I continued to search.. After literally weeks and weeks of zero to very little success but not being in a position to find the most up-todate source of songs that are popular in other countries I was ready to give up. The most effective way to connect to the Internet was to utilize the Firefox proxy plugin (usually FF has more plugins, developers love them I'm guessing). This would allow me to surf Youtube like I was in Spain or Germany. It wasn't reliable, as these connections can disappear and slow. But it did provide a solution so I tried it.
