How Twilight Princess Has Changed The History Of Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess Game Review

The most sombre and dark of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphic presentation to its final limits on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more disturbing than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs, nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is dragged into a dimension that is called Twilight Realm, where he takes the form of an Hylian and a wolf while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released on the Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems in 2006. The game was praised by critics, receiving perfect scores from a variety of publications, including 1UP, CVG, EGM, and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the most enjoyable game in the series and also the most well-known Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight princess features an artistic and naturalistic graphic style that is like that of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask but with a much more advanced graphic engine. It is the first game in the series to have an entirely directional motion control scheme, instead of having a fixed perspective like previous games. This modification was made to accommodate the Wii console's touchscreen that is based on pointing. The GameCube version has an area at the back of the game with mirror-image maps, which are for those who prefer an image that is fixed.

Link transforms into a wolf when he enters the Twilight Realm. He also encounters Midna, a mysterious creature. She is able to reveal that the kingdom of Hyrule has been taken by a group shadow beasts commanded by the evil sorcerer Zant. She also reveals that she is the real ruler of Twili but was supplanted by Zant and cursed to her current form.

A short cutscene shows the soldiers being slain by shadow creatures when Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle. Then, Link and Midna escape from the castle by a tunnel and enter the Twilight Realm.

Link can move more freely in the Twilight Realm by using his wolf form. Link can also use his senses to navigate around the world. He can hear the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pick grass from specific patches to summon an animal like a Hawk, Epona or other. Alternatively, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

As with earlier Zelda games, music plays a large role in Twilight Princess. Link can play an instrument that is musical like the flute or the harp, to attract and summon various animals. He can also use his voice to command the wolf's appearance. He can also use his compass to guide him to help him navigate the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of unique and colorful characters that leave a lasting impression. These quirky and creative personalities such as hands emerging from toilets to pirates soaring across vast oceans, are the heart of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, and introduces an array of memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story, who are not only interesting but also plausible. It's a big improvement that so many of these NPCs aren't just victims, but actually have a role to play in the story. NPCs like Rusl who states that the forest is more risky now and kidnaps children as well as the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf when the kids are kidnapped all have unique personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza, who operates the Boat Rental Cabin and Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, Telma's cat who helps Wolf Link locate a secret passageway through her bar and sewer system that leads to the castle and Faron, whose spirit guides Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The two team members defeat Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear Of Light.

Midna the princess of the Twilight Realm, is also one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She has a sliver of the Triforce of Wisdom and can switch between her human and her impish wolf form. She shares with Link about her experience in the twilight, and about how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant who holds the other half of the Triforce of Wisdom, is a wicked sorcerer and the ruler of the Twilight Realm. The goddesses relegated him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and enslaving their land. Zant's magic enables him to remain in wolf form, however Midna removes the power and allows him to transform into his human form whenever needed.

The game also includes an upgraded horse, called Epona, which is ridden in Hylian and wolf versions. Holmes Trail can whistle near certain patches of grass to summon the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). The player can name the horse, making Twilight Princess the first time in the series where the player can customize their own horse.

Theme

Music is a crucial element of any Zelda title. It can make a game seem vast exciting, expansive, and captivating. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for having an inconsistent and inconsistent soundtrack that fails to convey the emotional impact of certain scenes. In contrast, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have enthralling compositions that explode at precisely the right moment to create a feeling of grandness and eerie.

Twilight Princess was composed by Asuka Ohta and Toru Minegishi. Koji Kondo, the composer of the series for the first time since Wind Waker was responsible for overseeing the composers. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the usual approach to the franchise with a minimalist approach to melody and arrangement. The majority of themes for dungeons and fields begin with one instrument, creating an atmospheric and eerie atmosphere for the player. Midna's Lament, for example is a song that uses a keyboard to induce a sense of sadness for the player.

Dungeon themes are the most prominent examples of this trend towards minimalism, with many themes featuring a dull and dark atmosphere. This is evident in the Twilight Realm theme, which has a sonic landscape that would be appropriate for the soundtrack of a David Lynch film. The unsettling and ominous nature of the track is enhanced by the lack of recognisable melodies and the traditional arrangement with dull drones and eerie patterns interspersed to create a dark, gloomy texture.

A more upbeat and joyful song is Link's hometown theme, "Faron Woods." This song uses a variety soft sounds and strings to create a peaceful and secure experience for the player. The song also has an enigmatic reference to the franchise's most infamous scene, as it features a riff that is very similar to the famous tune that plays at the start of Ocarina of Time.

Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change depending on the player's whereabouts, what they are doing, and what is taking place. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of the theme for each region of the town. Central Square, for instance, has a more boisterous version. These variations are a nice touch that helps to add a sense of depth and immersion into the world of Hyrule.

Story

Link's goal in Twilight Princess is to save Hyrule from the corrupted parallel universe known as the Twilight Realm. To achieve this, Link assumes the appearance of a Hylian or the form of a Wolf and is aided by a woman named Midna.

Midna is the original ruler of the Twili, but she was supplanted by Zant and cursed into her imp form. Link and Midna are informed by the Sages of the Old Testament that only defeating Ganondorf will be capable of releasing them from their curse. The Sages then reveal that the Mirror of Twilight is the source of the darkness that exists in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter hostile monsters that kidnap children. Utilizing Wolf Link's sharp sense of smell, they track the kids' scent to a bridge and then cross into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa and win the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

Midna, at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link to a fiery rock and then uses her powers on the ice below Lake Hylia. The spirit of the recently deceased Zora Queen, Rutela, then appears and tells Link that he must visit the Lakebed Temple in order to gain access to a treasure from the Zora.

Twilight Princess allows you to ride Epona the horse from Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. In contrast to the set name used in the two previously mentioned games, Link can now decide the name of the horse himself.

Midna and Link can retrieve the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. The Sages reveal to Midna that she is the true ruler of the Twili. She was passed by the monarchy and had turned to an ego-driven god. The Sages advise them that they will only defeat Ganondorf when they bring him to light and break the pact between the Twilight kingdom and Hyrule kingdom.
