How To find out if there are other apps running in the background that may interfere with your calls
Sometimes they might be other apps running in the background that could interfere with any mobile calls. To find out if there are other apps running in the background, follow these steps based on the type of device you are using:
For Android Devices
- Access the Recent Apps:
- On most Android devices, you can access the recent apps screen by tapping the square or multitasking button usually located at the bottom of the screen.
- Alternatively, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold for a moment if you are using gesture navigation.
- View Running Apps:
- The recent apps screen will show you all the apps that are currently open and running in the background.
- Swipe left or right to see all the open apps.
- Close Unwanted Apps:
- Swipe each app up or to the side to close it.
- You can also tap on "Close all" to shut down all running apps at once (if this option is available).
- Check Developer Options:
- Go to "Settings" > "Developer Options" > "Running services" to see a more detailed list of active services and background apps.
- If "Developer Options" is not enabled, go to "Settings" > "About phone" and tap "Build number" seven times to enable it.
For iOS Devices
- Access the App Switcher:
- On iPhones with a Home button, double-click the Home button to access the app switcher.
- On iPhones without a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle to open the app switcher.
- View Running Apps:
- The app switcher will display all currently open and running apps.
- Swipe left or right to browse through the open apps.
- Close Unwanted Apps:
- Swipe each app up to close it.
- There is no option to close all apps at once on iOS.
For Windows PCs
- Task Manager:
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Escto open Task Manager. - Alternatively, right-click the taskbar and select "Task Manager".
- View Running Apps:
- Under the "Processes" tab, you can see a list of all currently running applications and background processes.
- Close Unwanted Apps:
- Select the app or process you want to close and click "End Task".
For macOS Devices
- Activity Monitor:
- Open "Activity Monitor" from the "Applications" > "Utilities" folder or search for it using Spotlight (
Cmd + Spaceand type "Activity Monitor"). - View Running Apps:
- The Activity Monitor will show you a list of all running processes.
- Close Unwanted Apps:
- Select the process you want to close and click the "X" button in the upper-left corner of the window.
