How to wash dakimakura is a big problem many anime body pillow owners face. Now, here’s the comprehensive guide:
The dakimakura cover is delicate. Do not use the washing machine , but carefully and gently wash it by hand.
Unlike a normal duvet cover, never let bleach off your daki if you want to take care of your waifu.
Put detergent and softener in the basin to wash the dakimakura. Remember the neutral detergent.
No dryer to prevent damage. Dehydrate the dakimakura. If you are absolutely worried, you can use a large towel (bath towel, etc.) and gently tap to absorb the water.
Dry in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight.
Hang it upside down if you hang it.
Have you got tips on how to wash your dakimakura? Come on, try to wash the body pillow with the tips above.

Some tips how I wash wash my dakimakura, hope it helps Diary Prev Next Prev Next
Just like any bedding item, after a while they can get dirty.Dakimakura is larger than a regular pillow,so you might have no idea how to wash clean. Here are some tips how I wash my dakimakura[],hope it helps:

Attention:Dakimakura should be done with caution and not more than two or three times per month,it ensures that the Dakimakura is clean without damaging the fabric.

Step:
- Confirm that your pillow can be machine washed or not - most can be.
- Carefully Remove the pillow cover
- Fill the washing machine about 1/3 full with cold water under 40C degrees to keep its color good, and WASH ALONE
- Add the bleach free detergent then start the machine and allow it to agitate for a few minutes, makes sure all the detergent dissolves before adding the pillow covers.
- No matter what, DO NOT USE A DRYER! Hang dry the cover avoiding direct sunlight, and any place with high humidity, such as the bathroom.

Wish it helps:)If you want some more details. I find this article[ www.coosfly.com... ] more specific.

I was too afraid for washing with the machine because my Cover is a Bootleg (It was the only chance to get her) and I was not sure how it will react of washing.
So I made a hand wash with cold water and it worked fine. And it is clean of course. :D

For Drying I used a Fan to blow Air into the cover so the cover bloat beautifully but gently.

This has 2 advantages: First it dries very quickly, second it is wrinkle-free without ironing.

The material of mine is Peach-Skin but I think this will work with other materials too.

Dakis are more sturdy than most people think. I've been washing mine on a regular 40C degrees cycle with other clothes, turned inside out with no fabric softener. Been doing that for 3 years and it still looks the same
Thanks for the tips! I’m too impatient to air dry my Dakis so I put them in my dryer (turned inside out of course) on the delicate cycle. They dry very quickly (like 5 or 10 minutes) so I don’t think the machine is causing too much (or if any) harm to them. :)
I would add that the daki should be turned inside out for washing, like any other decorated items (T-shirts and such), so that the print doesnt rub against the inside of the washing machine.

The newer HE washers lock while running, you can open them mid-cycle, but you have to pause it and then it slows down whatever it's doing and unlocks until you shut it / tell it to go again. I've had one of these for like 4 years, but they've been around for longer. They are different than the old style.

murialita • 5 years ago • #20275420 Top loading washing machines give you more control over how full they get and you can open them as they are running since the water doesn't spill out. Front loaders don't let you open them while running for obvious reasons.

What kind of hell-machine do you own that you have to manually fill with water? Bearcat • 5 years ago • #20273517 I was just gonna ask that too....most washing machines can't be opened once they've started the cycle o_o
I've just been washing my dakis on cold normal cycle and hanging them to dry, and it's been going great for years :)
