@back-to thanks for that commit. I tested your changes and they work a lot better then other solutions I've tried.
One sporadic issue I'm running into is that it sometimes hangs at

or to the stream (if the stream is online).
If there's any testing I can do to help figure this out, I'd be more than happy to.

Yeah, I'm careful about the case sensitivity, I figured that out.
That loop setting is interesting, but I'm not sure what to change the loop setting to. As it is now, it'll just hang for perpetually if I don't do anything, so I think it's just waiting for a response and never getting it. If it failed instead of waiting that might be better for my purposes. The script I have I just tries again later, but right now it just hangs a lot of the time instead of failing.
So do I need more loops? Less loops? What's the best way to debug what's actually happening to me?
@back-to thanks for that, it's working great now.
While debugging I found that with the previous websocket version it would hang at all points in the loop, with no pattern. But it's very good now, no issues.
The other other suggestion I can make is maybe adding some way to specify uid directly instead of username? I've seen fairly frequent username changes in the past and it might be easier for automation to have a uid option.

installed myfreecams.py in C:\Program Files (x86)\Streamlink\pkgs\streamlink\plugins
As you can see websocket-client (0.40.0) is installed. i tried python 32bit 3.6.1 (same error) uninstalled it and now 2.7.13. is there recommended versions of both?
Got it working thanks for the info, I just moved only the websocket-client and its Requirements (six and backports.ssl if using python 2.7).

@back-to okay, I've testing using uid URLs and they work now as well. Everything works very nicely for me now.
I'm not sure if you need to make a formal pull request or what, but I think it's ready. @gravyboat would certainly know for sure.

Looks like the ping command string has changed.
FCTYPE_NULL is defined as 0 , not 1 .
The change worked for me anyway. Previously, I was getting the same error as @ForgotMyLogin above. After the change, I got the streams (well, the streams I was watching anyway; can't say they all work).

You'd better forget about this script. It uses a flawed scheme to get the required information. Sooner or later you'll start getting IP-bans for using it (see below).
I suspect that using such a scheme in other more popular applications with cool GUI was the cause of recent MFC black-outs. The authors of the apps were too dumb or lazy to study how MFC works. They've set models scan interval at 60 seconds by default. Their apps used by thousands overloaded and crashed the only one MFC server that sends the initial list of models. So, that MFC had to set IP-bans for downloading the initial list more frequently than one time in 20 minutes.
The proper scheme for the script is to get relevant information through dozens of websockets chat servers and avoid using php at all.
