How To Perform Ghusl 🚿(Ritual Bath)

QuranQuotesChannel.

The causes that make ghusl obligatory are:

1. The emission of semen

2. Contact between the genitals

3. Menstruation and nifaas (post-natal bleeding)

4. Death

🔹Complete ghusl means doing what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did it, with all the sunnahs of ghusl.

𝟭- Form the intention to purify oneself from impurity: janabah (impurity following sexual discharge), menses or nifas (postpartum bleeding).

𝟮 - Then say Bismillah and wash the hands three times, then wash any dirt from the private part.

𝟯 - Then do wudu as for prayer, It is also reported in the sunnah that the washing the feet should be delayed until the end of the ghusl.

𝟰 - Then pour water over the head three times, and rub the hair so that the water reaches the roots of the hair.

𝟱 - Then wash the body, making sure that the water reaches all parts, starting with the right side of the body and then the left, and rubbing it with the hands so that the water reaches the entire body.

𝟲. Wash your Feet .

📍Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymin was asked about how ghusl is done.

He replied: Ghusl may be done in two ways:

·  By doing the obligatory parts of ghusl only, which is making water reach all parts of the body, and includes rinsing the mouth and nose. If a person makes the water reach all parts of his body, by whatever means, then he has removed the major impurity and purified himself properly, because Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“If you are in a state of Janabah (i.e. after a sexual discharge), purify yourselves (bathe your whole body).” [al-Maidah 5:6]

·  The complete way, which is doing ghusl as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did it. When he wanted to do ghusl in the case of janabah, he would wash his hands, then wash his private part and anywhere else that the impurity had reached, then he would do complete wudu, then he would wash his head three times with water, then he would wash the rest of his body. This is how complete ghusl is done.” (Fatawa Arkan al-Islam, p. 248)

𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 :

● There is no difference between ghusl in the case of janabah and ghusl following menses except that it is more mustahabb to rub the hair in the case of ghusl following menses than in the case of ghusl following janabah . It is also mustahabb for the woman to apply perfume to the site of bleeding, to remove any unpleasant smell.

● The person taking a bath should first of all wash both hands up to the wrists, and then wash the private parts. The hands and private parts should be washed irrespective of whether there is any impurity on them or not. Both these have to be washed under all conditions.

● Whilst pouring water over the body the first time, rub the body well so that water reaches everywhere properly and no place remains dry.

● While bathing, one should not face the Qiblah (direction of the Ka’bah). Too much water should not be used, nor should so little be used that one is unable to wash thoroughly. The bath should be taken at such a place that no one can see the bathing person. One should not talk while bathing; he should cover himself up first and then wash the feet.
