The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to increase the level of armor, weapons and trinkets. The process is similar to the process of reforging gear in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the currency that is appropriate players must visit an NPC to upgrade their items to complete the process.

Rerolling upgraded items is only possible if the item was upgraded was an Epic Rare, Rare, or Unique. Exceptional items can also be eligible for rerolling, but their original stats will be replaced with a flat bonus. This means that rerolling a Rare item will result in a Normal version of the same kind, while the rerolling of an Epic item will result in an Elite version of the same type.
