C. Brian Smith, a gay author who writes intelligently about masculinity, media culture, sex and drugs , has been masturbating the same way since he was 13.
“I’m single, so minding my solitary erotic life is relevant,” Smith said. “There’s nothing particularly pleasing about [my masturbation style, though it’s one of the few remaining dopamine dumps my sober brain is permitted, and it helps me fall asleep in the absence of a blissful fog of booze and benzodiazepines.”
So to juice-up his whack-off technique, Smith searched for a male masturbation coach and found Californian coach Ed Ehrgott. Here’s some of what Ehrgott told Smith:
“We’ll joke about [masturbation]. We’ll make fun of it. But most guys aren’t gonna seriously talk about it because that would be a blow to their masculinity. We learn to do it quickly, quietly, discreetly and to remove all the evidence as soon as possible. But what worked well in our teens may not work as well as we age since our bodies and tastes change….
That’s where masturbation coaching comes in…. It’s about taking something you began doing as an adolescent and adapting it to fit your values and needs as an adult.”
Foremost, Ehrgott feels like most men masturbate too quickly at a speed that doesn’t match the rhythms or sensations of actual sex. In fact, as Smith points out, the Kinsey Institute says that 75% of male masturbation sessions last for two minutes or less . So to slow down the pleasure, Ehrgott encourages men to practice “mindful masturbation”—a term allegedly coined by Texas masturbation coach Bruce P. Grether. which is “rooted in Tantra, Taoist Sexual Secrets and Western Sex Magick”.
Smith says that “mindful masturbation” means “being present in your body and savoring every sensation, which can lead to profound ecstatic states typically achieved after a lengthy ‘edging’ session.” Edging involves slowly pleasuring yourself for a prolonged period of time, bringing yourself repeatedly to the edge of orgasm but then backing off to avoid ejaculation.
Instead of just stopping when you’re about to cum, Ehrgott suggests switching things up by using a different hand, concentrating on your breathing, trying a different stroking style or spreading the erotic energy into other parts of your body by stimulating your nipples, buttcheeks or taint.
But for Ehrgott, masturbation coaching isn’t about teaching guys how to last longer or cum harder, it’s also about teaching men to let go of the rigid social expectations that compel us to control every aspect of our sexual gratification. Rather, he encourages men to surrender to sensation, let go of code of social conduct and allow the arousal to dic(k)tate your reactions. He also suggests tugging on your balls right before you cum; Smith did this when climaxing after a 45-minute jerk-off session and his load hit the wall behind him. Nice.
There’s apparently no official certification to become a masturbation coach, but some masturbation coaches do use different teaching tools like Blue Tyger’s a 53-minute film called 9 Golden Keys to Mindful Masturbation —it features a scruffy otter jerking off in a room sparsely decorated with a rug and Tibetan prayer flags. Tyger’s other masturbation how-to videos include such titles as 3 Forms of Male SoloSex Magick and Heartgasm …. and those links lead to short videos of Tyger whacking off, so enjoy.

While some men are looking for ways to control premature ejaculation, there are others who just want their ejaculation to last longer and go further. Basically, the tips and tricks are the same in both the cases. So, if you want to ejaculate longer and further, keep reading.
If you tend to hold your breath or breathe rapidly during intercourse, you are doing the wrong thing. The idea is to delay your ejaculation for as long as possible and allow it to build up. This not only helps intensify your orgasm but also helps you build up enough semen volume to allow you to shoot your ejaculate for a further distance and for a longer time as well.
So, what you need to do here is control your breath. Your breathing should not be rapid and you should not be holding it as well. Just breathe as slowly as possible. You may have to practice this for a while but once you do get it right, you will be able to ejaculate much more than you usually do.
If you are practicing Kegel exercises, this one will be easy for you. Kegel exercises help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and allow you to have more control over these. These muscles are located around your testicles, penis and anus and are the ones that you use if you stop the flow of your urine when you go to the bathroom.
The idea is to contract and release these muscles as many times as possible anywhere anytime. Once these muscles are stronger, you will have harder erections and you will be able to contract these muscles to stop yourself from ejaculating earlier than you want to.
Yes, men also have a G-spot. It’s basically the prostrate gland that is considered to be the male G-spot. To stop yourself from releasing your ejaculation, you can ask your partner to apply pressure to your perineum. This is the area between your anus and scrotum and when you press on it, it puts pressure on the prostrate gland.
The prostrate gland is the one that contracts and expands during orgasm and expels the ejaculation fluid. Just by pressing on the perineum, you can stop the ejaculation fluid from being expelled, thus, allowing you to build up the ejaculation volume.
Lightly tugging the testicles when you are about to reach an orgasm can help you delay your ejaculation. When you are about to reach an orgasm, your testicles tend to move closer to the body. As soon as you notice this, just tug at it lightly and it will allow you to delay your ejaculation and build up your semen volume.
Another technique that allows you to delay ejaculation and build up the semen volume is the stop and go technique. It not only builds up the intensity of your orgasm but also helps your partner reach an intense and more pleasurable climax.
Here, you need to stop and withdraw as soon as you feel that you are approaching an orgasm. Allow the sensation to subside and then penetrate your partner’s vagina again. As you do this, you will be able to delay your orgasm and when you do ejaculate, you will find that the volume released is much higher and goes much further as well.
Keep in mind that food plays an important role in how much you ejaculate. Make sure that you include ample amounts of zinc in your diet. This is an essential mineral that increases your testosterone production as well as your semen volume. Also include adequate amounts of vitamins A, B12, folic acid, and selenium in your diet.
Certain amino acids have been found to increase ejaculate fluid and these include L-arginine, L-lysine, and L-carnitine. Combined with the other essential nutrients, these amino acids can increase your semen volume dramatically.
Besides these foods and nutrients, you should consider one or two herbs that are known to increase the amount of ejaculation fluid. These include horny goat weed, tribulus terrestris, and ginseng.
Keep in mind that the more you allow your ejaculation to build up, the more will you be able to ejaculate longer as well as further. This is why it is also recommended that you ejaculate only once in three to four days. This allows the fluid to build up so that when you do shoot it out, it comes out in massive amounts, thus, going further and continuing for a longer time.
Many companies out there sell ejaculation pills (which mainly contain herbs and supplements you can buy if you can find them and have the time) that claim to provide bigger, harder, and longer-lasting ejaculations, helping you ejaculate like a porn star. Just watch out and double-check that they are sold by a good company, medically backed by doctors and made in licensed cGMP facilities like our supplement Horny Goat Weed
Try these tried and tested techniques to delay your ejaculation and allow it to build up. Once you are ready to release it, you will find that the amount that does come out is much higher than what you would normally release.

If you haven’t changed things up since seventh grade, read this.
Most people with a penis learn to masturbate as quickly and quietly as possible. After all, when you're a testosterone-loaded adolescent, you have to content with the very real risk of your parents or siblings walking in and disturbing your, ah, personal time.
And there isn’t just a fear of getting caught jerking off—there’s also a lot of shame surrounding sexual pleasure when people are younger, says Dr. Uchenna “UC” Ossai, Pelvic PT, certified sexuality counselor and founder of YouSeeLogic , an online sexual education platform. “Few people were told that masturbating is natural and an excellent way to learn more about your sexual pleasure,” she says.
Those secretive, fast-and-furious masturbation habits can spill into adulthood, Shamyra Howard, sexologist and Men's Health advisory panel member, says in Men's Health Best. Sex. Ever . "Many guys are masturbating the same way they did when they were teens—all rushed," she says. "You need to change things up. If you're right-handed, use your left hand; involve sex toys; or try masturbating on your stomach. Also, don't focus only on your genitals. You have a whole body. Get your nipples, perineum, and anus involved."
The options might sound a little overwhelming. If you're sitting there thinking, I'll just go back to my old ways, thanks —WAIT! According to Howard, exploring new ways to masturbate can help benefit your sex life on the whole.
"As long as you're switching things up when you masturbate, you get an opportunity to explore and try different things with your body and to learn what you like," she says. "You can learn how you like your penis touched, which things turn you on, and which angles lead to more pleasure."
Try these 13 masturbation tips and techniques the next time you feel like getting down with yourself, and get ready to feel good— really good.
You’ve likely masturbated in the same position now for years, so try switching it up. “If you are a stander, try laying on your back. If you like to sit, stand up,” Dr. UC. says. “Changing positioning can improve your pelvic floor muscle resting tone, which can help improve the blood flow to your penis.” So changing up your masturbation positions won’t only feel good for the novelty, but it may also increase the strength of your erections.
Do you ever feel really horny after working out? Well, there’s a reason for that . You release hormones while working out, including adrenaline and dopamine a.k.a. the so-called "feel-good" chemical. Dr. UC adds that it’s excellent to masturbate after working out “because your endorphins are quite high, blood flow is great, and your pelvic floor muscles are completely relaxed.”
"The perineum is the area between the penis and the anus. It's full of nerve endings and very sensitive, so providing some vibration to it can often feel really good," says LELO Sexpert and NYU professor of Human Sexuality Dr. Zhana Vrangalova .
Try pressing a vibrating sex toy to your perineum while stroking your penis with your other hand. Vrangalova recommends either the LELO Lily 2 or the LELO Smart Wand . It's "sure to provide a different kind of orgasm," she says. There are also prostate massagers on the market that stimulate your perineum.
Sex toys aren't just for people with a vulva. For penis-owners, Emily Morse, a sex expert and host of the popular podcast Sex with Emily, recommends the Fleshlight, the popular handheld column that you slip over your junk to simulate the feel of real vaginal or anal sex . (You can even buy an accessory to free up both your hands.)
Vibrators have traditionally been marketed to people with a vulva, which makes sense, given that most need some form of external clitoral stimulation in order to climax during penetrative sex. But recent years have seen an increase in vibrating sex toys designed for dicks , because honestly, those vibrations can feel really damn good on penises, too! One 2012 study found that 44% of heterosexual men had enjoyed the experience of using a vibrator at some point in their life, so don't be shy about trying some of these toys.
"A lot of men, especially those who identify as straight, regularly miss out on a huge source of pleasure: their butts," Vrangalova says. "Butts (of all genders) have a huge number of nerve endings and stimulating them can feel really good. If you have a prostate that you can (indirectly) reach this way, that anal stimulation can be literally mind-blowing."
So how do you bring a little butt play into your next masturbation session? Vrangalova recommends using your hand or a prostate massage toy .
She recommends the LOKI Wave , which "has a nice long handle you can hold with one hand while you stroke with the other, and the wave motion of the internal vibrating part hits the prostate just right."
A cock ring—also known as a penis ring —is a band and that goes around the base of your penis (and sometimes your testicles, too), trapping blood flow in your shaft and thereby strengthening your erection. Cock rings often come up in conversations about how to last longer during partnered sex, but there's no reason not to reap their rock-hard benefits during solo sex. Speaking of benefits: In addition to stronger erections, some guys anecdotally say that cock rings give them stronger orgasms.
Ever heard of the " death grip "? If you find yourself having a hard time reaching orgasm during sex with a partner, it might be because you're squeezing your penis too hard and stroking too fast during masturbation.
"This amount of grip pressure and stroke speed cannot typically be reached with a partner, hence their orgasmic difficulties," Vrangalova says. "To prevent this from happening, make sure you switch up the grip and stroking speed, so you're used to ejaculating in different ways."
The 5-minute speed jerk is fine for most days. But if you have a little extra time, “ edging ”—also called the stop-and-start method—can help you achieve more intense orgasms, Morse promises.
Work yourself right up to the edge of ejaculation and then take a short break—just enough time for your erection to soften a bit. Then start the process over again. Do this three or four times before you orgasm , and you’ll experience more profound, powerful ejaculations, Morse says.
You’ve probably tried incorporating your non-dominant hand into your solo act. You may have even attempted the mythical “Stranger”—sitting on your hand until it falls asleep, and then using it to simulate the sensation of someone else doing the dirty work. But Morse advises using your opposite hand in more creative ways.
Turn your hand so it slides down your penis forefinger-first, and twist it as you stroke. You could also try holding your penis against your stomach with one hand while rapidly sliding a few fingers up and down the underside of your shaft. Like switching positions during sex, mixing in unfamiliar hand maneuvers can break up the tedium, Morse says.
There are nearly as many sex-specific nerve endings in your testicles as there are in your penis. Don’t neglect them, Morse urges.
While individual preferences and sensitivities play a big role in what you’ll enjoy, a lot of men discover an untapped source of stimulation—and more intense orgasms—by pulling down on their testicles rhythmically before ejaculation.
Some guys learn to ignore their penis entirely as they approach the big O, Morse says.
Masturbation entails sexually pleasuring yourself, but it does not mean you have to do it alone in a room with the door locked. Masturbation side-by-side with a partner can be an intimate experience—not to mention an easy, sexy option for when you're both too tir
