How To Find Diamonds In Minecraft Diamond Level In Minecraft 1.18

Minecraft 1.18 introduced several significant changes to Minecraft's global generation. You can play Minecraft 1.18 or later, and then go below Y-Level 0 and get into negative figures. Below Y-Level 0, all the typical ores, including Diamonds will be embedded in Deepslate blocks.

You'll have to dig up to Y-Level 15 to Y-Level for 63 to locate Diamonds in Minecraft 1.18. However to increase your chances of finding Diamonds, you should go as far as you can before reaching bedrock. Because the chance of spawning for Diamonds increases with each step you take,

See the below graph of ore distributions in 1.18 for more details on where you can find the highest concentration of Diamonds and other resources:

As you can see in the screenshot below, Minecraft's 1.18 update has dramatically changed the way in which ores appear. Each ore distribution is illustrated by a bar that alters in thickness with different Y levels.

The formula for Diamond is quite simple. It is generated at Y=15 and increases linearly as you go down. However diamond placement is subject to what Mojang refers to as "reduced air exposure" in 1.18. This means that diamonds that are placed in Diamond placed next to an open-air block during world generation will not spawn. This makes it more difficult to find diamonds embedded within cave walls and other similar structures. If you want to maximize your chances of finding them, you'll have to spend time digging through the deep slate.

So, in a nutshell: to find diamonds fast, head as far down as you can go until you hit bedrock, then start strip-mining!

To find out what Y-Level your on, hit F3 to bring up the coordinates display. The current level of your lower half is shown by the second number following "XYZ".

Although not as powerful as Netherite tools but still essential for any world or Minecraft server Diamond tools are essential. Diamond tools are vital. Just make sure that you keep an eye out for the Warden when The Wild Update arrives!

How to Find Diamonds in Minecraft 1.17

If you're playing Minecraft 1.17 or earlier, you'll find Diamond Ore in every Overworld biome that is between the Y-levels of 1-15. They are most commonly found between levels 5-12, so for the best chance of increasing your chances of finding Diamonds be sure to stay between these two levels.

No matter what version of Minecraft you're playing with, Diamonds will spawn in tiny veins of up to 9 blocks at a time. However, sometimes you'll see larger veins that are made up of multiple veins touching each one. Diamonds are rare even when you're at the right levels.

The best method to mine Diamonds in Minecraft

Only an Iron Pickaxe is required to mine Diamond Ore. As of 1.18, Diamonds are far less prevalent in open spaces like caves. This means that to increase your chances of finding Diamonds in Minecraft you should strip-mine in straight lines throughout the entire world.

Dig down to level 57 and construct a 2-block-tall tunnel in all directions. This is the most efficient way to mine Diamonds in Minecraft 1.18. Then, mine to the opposite side in 2x1 tunnels. Each tunnel has a gap of 2 blocks.

After you're satisfied that you've removed all Diamonds at that level, repeat the process at level -53. You'll be able to see all Diamonds that spawn between level 51 and -58 if you dig this way at both levels -57 and 53. This allows you to extract the highest concentration of Diamonds, without running into blocks of Bedrock which could slow down your strip-mining progress.

If you're playing Minecraft 1.17 or earlier, you can follow this exact same method but using levels 6 and 10.

It's a good idea for miners to carry a Water Bucket in the car with you. Lava pockets are quite common at these levels. Remember also to bring plenty of torches to light your way and stop mobs from spawning in your tunnels. You can also use Night Vision potions to lighten your path, but this will not prevent mobs spawning.
