How To Find Diamonds In Minecraft: Diamond Level In Minecraft 1.18

Minecraft 1.18 introduced several significant changes to Minecraft's global generation. If you're playing Minecraft 1.18 or later you'll be able to go below Y-Level 0 , and even into negative figures. Below Y-Level 0, all typical ores, including Diamonds will be embedded in Deepslate blocks.

You'll have to dig up to the Y-Level 15-Y-Level for 63 to locate Diamonds in Minecraft 1.18. However, to maximize your chances of finding Diamonds you should dig as far as you can before reaching bedrock. Because the probability of spawning for Diamonds increases with each step you make,

Check out the graph below of ore distributions in 1.18 for details on where you can find the greatest concentration of Diamonds and other resources:

As you can see in the screenshot below, Minecraft's 1.18 update has dramatically changed the way ores spawn. The distribution of each ore is represented by a bar which increases and decreases in thickness depending on Y-Levels.

Thankfully the formula for Diamond is pretty straightforward: it starts generating at Y=15, and increases linearly in frequency as you move down. However, diamond placement is also subject to what Mojang refers to as "reduced air exposure" in 1.18. This means that should a Diamond is scheduled to be placed close to an open air block during world generation, it has the chance of not spawning. This makes it more difficult to find diamonds embedded in cave walls and the like, so you'll need to dig into the deepslate if you want to maximize the chances of finding diamonds.

In short, to locate diamonds quickly take a trip as low as you can until you reach bedrock, then start strip-mining!

To find out the level of your body's Y, press F3 to display the coordinates. The current level of your bottom half is shown by the second number that follows "XYZ".

Although not as powerful as Netherite tools, they are still vital for any world or Minecraft server The Diamond tools are essential. Make sure to keep an eye out for the Warden when The Wild Update arrives!

How do I find Diamonds in Minecraft 1.17

If you're playing Minecraft 1.17 or earlier, you can find Diamond Ore in every Overworld biome between Y-levels 1-15. They usually appear at levels 5-12, so in order to maximize your chances of finding Diamonds be sure to stay between these two levels.

Whichever version of Minecraft you're playing with, Diamonds will spawn in small veins that can be up to 9 blocks at a time. However, often you'll see larger veins that are comprised of multiple veins that are connected to each one. Diamonds aren't common, even at the right levels.

The best way to mine Diamonds in Minecraft

Only an Iron Pickaxe is required to mine Diamond Ore. As of 1.18, Diamonds are far rare in open areas like caves, which means to increase your chances of finding Diamonds in Minecraft you must strip-mine in straight lines in all directions.

The best method for mining Diamonds in Minecraft 1.18 is to dig to level -57 , and then create an extensive 2-block-tall tunnel in any direction. Then, mine to the opposite side in 2x1 tunnels. My cms has a 2-block gap.

If you're satisfied that you have removed all Diamonds at this level, you may continue to dig at level 53. If you go about digging this way at both levels -57 and -53, you'll be able to view all Diamonds that spawn between levels -58 and -51. This gives you the highest amount of Diamonds without having to constantly cross blocks of Bedrock that may otherwise hinder the progress of strip mining.

If you're playing Minecraft 1.17 or earlier, you can use this exact same method but using levels 6 and 10.

When mining, it's a good idea to have an empty water bucket on your person, because pockets of lava are frequent at these levels. To illuminate your path and keep mobs out of your tunnels, bring plenty of torchlights. Alternatively you could illuminate your way with Night Vision potions - though this won't prevent mobs from spawning.
