How To Apply For Green Card For Spouse Through Consular Processing
There are two ways to get a Green Card for foreign nationals. First you can apply for something called adjustment of status (AOS). You can apply for the adjustment of status if you are already within the United States.
If you are in a different country then you apply for a Green Card through a process called Consular Processing. Basically it means that you will be applying for a Green Card through the US Consulate in a foreign country.

The procedure for both paths are almost the same except one is applied from within the US and the other one is applied from a foreign country.
In order to apply for a Green Card for your spouse through consular processing you need to fill a petition on behalf of your spouse using form I-130. The purpose of Form I-130 is to establish an eligible relationship so that the relative may apply for a green card.
You can only file petition I-129-F to bring a fiancé to the US for marriage however this process is not available to US permanent residents.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will then notify the person filing the petition a decision on the application. If the petition is denied it will explain the reasons why it was denied and the rights to appeal it. If the petition is approved, USCIS will send the approved petition to the National Visa Center (NVC). USICS will also send a copy of the approval to the beneficiary.
The beneficiary will then be contacted by the NVC. They will be informed to pay the fees for visa and go to the US Consulate for an interview. If everything works out the US Consulate will hand an admission packet to the beneficiary. This is not a Green card. You get a Green card after you arrive in the United States.
You then take this package, go to the United States and hand it to the border control agent. They will interview to make sure you qualify to be admitted to the United States. Once you pass this interview you will be allowed to enter the US and you will then receive your Green Card in mail within 45 days of you entering the United States.
If you do not get the Green Card within 45 Days then you need to contact the USICS or an immigration attorney to help you with the matter. If you need more help with filing for a Green Card you can visit: https://dygreencard.com
